Buying Secondhand

Hi

I am thinking of going CCR next year.

Are there any reasons not to buy an Inspiration Vision second hand?

Given that the software can be upgraded, and I can be fussy over the unit I choose with respect to condition and options, what do you get when you buy new?

Thanks
Chris

Re: Buying Secondhand

I would advise you only buy that has just had the electronics serviced at ap, this is important for classics and nothing has really filtered through about the visions yet apart from the odd software problem.

so yes i would by second hand

Re: Buying Secondhand

It really helps (obviously) if you know the seller personally, have seen if he/she had any problems with the unit, how the unit is treated / serviced etc. If seller writes to any rebreather-forums, check the message history if there's been any issues with the unit.

Bought a used Vision last week, so far very happy with the deal (hi M!) Hopefully it stays that way

Re: Buying Secondhand

I bought my classic second hand (after a check with AP on the history using the serial supplied by the owner) I have had a great time diving with it but made sure it was checked and fully serviced by the OEM before it went anywhere near the water.

Re: Buying Secondhand

Hi Chris,

Stuey is selling his Inspo-Vision and I know he is keen to find a buyer.

I have spent many hours diving deep with him and can vouch fo it as being a top notch unit.

Re: Buying Secondhand

Chris,

If you go down the route of a second hand CCR the first thing to check is the serial number of the unit, this can be though AP. They will tell you all about the history of the unit.

The next thing is check the unit out if you are close, if possible sorce out your instructor and ask him for his advice (maybe he/she can check the unit out with you).

If you are after a Classic Inspo check the scrubber has not been damaged or distorted. You would need to be looking at the back lit handsets......
