Coaxial Oxygen sensors

Hi Folks,
What are peoples thoughts on the O2 sensors with the coaxial connectors?
Have they proven more reliable than the old Molex?
Are they harder/easier to use?

Thanks,
Jason.

im using them in boris and my homebuilds

yes much more reliable - especially if you get them wet or flood your unit - just whipe clean with a cloth.

Ive had 4 full caustic floods on boris and maybe teh same number on homebuilds and the coaxial cables are still as good as new as they are potted you just wipe them over with a rag.

I wouldnt buy a unit that uses molex again, even IF the wire ends are varnished that doesnt seem to stop corrosion - just ask the classic owners

Question Re: Coaxial Oxygen sensors

Any perfered sources for parts for completing a conversion of a molex system to a coax based system?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hmm, I had been thinking about that, but I can't imagine most KISSers would want to go for the co-ax sensors due to cost and availability issues. It's easy enough to do though.
The reason I'm asking though, is that I'm currently (like forever) doing a major rebuild on the Mk15 and am considering which sensors and connectors to go for. I'm totally sick of the crappiness of the Winchester connectors that the R-10 Mk15 sensors use, they are always intermittant, and suffer from moisture ingress quite a lot. Probably the crappiest point in the whole Mk15 system (along with lots of other crappiest points, but hey, no system is perfect, and it's still the worlds best rebreather!). I'm also wary of the Molex's as they have lots of issues as well. If the coax connectored R-22's are uber-reliable, I'll go for those.

Cheers,
Jason.

bought my homebuild ones from RS and soldered/potted them. these are longer than the ones used in inspo/evo and prob wont fit in those units

My mk155.5 sensor wires are soldered directly to the sensor wires with a bit of heatshrink - best mod I ever did and totally uber-reliable

Re: Coaxial Oxygen sensors

yep coax connectors should be standard issue for QC cells as molex are total shite.
i bought pre-wired coax 90degree bend connectors from radio spares
seem to recall 4 prewired ends with 500mm wire tails worked out at around £10 not worth pissing about trying to solder em yourself as they are tiny.
quick cheap conversion on most units.
pop off the top disc and fill with epoxy glue to make em sealed against conductor corrosion .

no but i only have to de-solder them maybe once a year (a small soldering iron is handy thing to keep in ones dive tool kit)
