I use a in-line isolation valve to stop flow through the ADV and disconnect my diluent hose and attached whatever offboard gas I want to use. Flush the loop, make new diluent selection though the Vision Electronics.

See link Below:

Isolation Valve Shut-off - 1

Hope this helps.

I don't own an Inspiration but I thought you can simply connect your offboard gas to the manual add valves on the counterlungs (after disconnecting the onboard hoses). This should be valid for all stock over-the-shoulder CL rebreathers.

Re: on / off board inspiration

You could add the GCS to the manifold. You then can turn off the diluent you are using(there will still be gas in the pipes) and then use the gas from the offboard bottle for wing inflate and dil addition. Although you gain very little doing this.

The main use for the GCS is addition via the adv. One end goes on the adv and the other part to the manifold, this way you can swap gases using the GCS if you run out of dil etc. Personally I would just put a normal buddy hose on the reg and then connect and disconnect underwater, with a flow stop on the adv.

Remember CCR is not like OC, it is recommended practice to keep the same dil throughout the dive.

Re: on / off board inspiration

Hi,

my instructor learned me the same: no diluent changes. Diluent changes are from the "old school", today they use only one diluent, so you can feed the unit using directly the external valve on the counterlung.

The other thing is that if you go deep, you will probably not have the ADV on the unit (no ADV = no problem with it), that's also the way my instructor is doing, so you will have to use the manual diluent injection all the time. I have practiced it and it's not really an issue.

As I am a beginner on Inspiration, I would appreciate all opinions, good ideas, best practices, etc

Cheers

Humuhumu
