That dam string

The string attached to the ball which allows easy dumping of gas from the counter lung has finally snapped. I have the replacement string and ball but can't get the the valve cover off to reattach. No problem with threading it, just can"t finish the job. Suggestions please.

spunkmire is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: That dam string

Put the threaded surfaces together, then rotate anticlockwise so the threads are going nowhere, this makes them level,
then screw them back on. Find someone stronger if you are struggling.
Screw as tight as you can but no further.

Not able to open the assembly at all. The top spins either open to lock point or closed to lock point. I don't want to force it. Should I be unscrewing the bevelled piece on the bottom? Is is very tight and I don't want to break it.

Re: That dam string

Thanks forthe help. I was being a bit too dainty with the housing. It was really factory tight. All fixed.

Thanks

Re: That dam string

Jeff,

Glad everything worked out o.k. with that.
So tell me, are you going to do any more "wetsuit" dives in ~40* water?
I hope that fix is also forthcoming!

Umm a little clarification....Jeff was wearing a "Drysuit" however it wasn't very dry

a little exaggeration on my part the temp was closer to 45 on the bottom.
