Advice Needed on Shortening Loop Hose

Hi guys and girls,

I was after some advice on shortening the loop hose between the T's to the mouth piece. I find the loop hose a little long and i notice i have to bite down and be mindful of the mouth piece so it does not pop out of my mouth. Has this been done and is it ok to do so? I was looking to shorten it by about 4-5cm on both sides.

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

John

Are you sure? You still need to be able to turn your head. I just angled the T-pieces out a bit to stop the pull on the mouthpiece.

I did take about an inch off one side when I fitted the ADV though, to even things up.
You need the tool to dismantle the hose ends, buy one or find a tube the right diameter and cut slots to engage the pins. It comes apart easily and the rest is obvious.

There are several threads in the YBOD forum that discussed various techniques of removing the hose ends with or without special tool.

Also make sure your counterlungs are sitting on the lowest mounting holes, just moving the lungs back will effectivly shorten the hoses

Re: Advice Needed on Shortening Loop Hose

Thanks for the advice guys, my lungs only have the one set of holes in them. I guess it would not be to hard to burn a couple of extra holes in there though, might try that before i shorten the hoses.

Also, try repositioning the hose weights. It makes a difference.

Cutting the hose is a last resort.

Re: Advice Needed on Shortening Loop Hose

Thanks for that Dave&Sandy, i guess i was just trying to find out if shortening the hoses was a common thing.

p.s Trying to get a Rebreather dive going on the 28th Jan with Dive Vic to the J1, 2 confirmed Inspo/Evo divers and 1 Optima if you are keen for a splash.

Re: Advice Needed on Shortening Loop Hose

Hi John,

Probably would come along and meet up with some others but we already have some diving planned interstate for the long weekend.

Thanks anyhow and maybe next time.

Re: Advice Needed on Shortening Loop Hose

i have also found that moving the weights
helps to stop the mouthpiece pulling
safe diving
