| Inspo Harness Question Hi All, I have aquired a S/H Inspo Classic, fully standard and I will be doing Mod1 with the unit standard, however I have looked at many threads and posts, in which people state they don't like the original harness, but no one seams to actually specifiy why - just general comments that its "pants" etc. I can see Problems with it (in my opinion), too many long dangly bits, D rings inaccessible under counter lungs to name but 2 and I will most likely change it to a back plate and simpler harness in the near future. If any one would like to give me specific reasons they don't like the original AP harness I would be most grateful to hear your views. Cheers.

The D rings are in the wrong place and they fold flat under the harness making stage drills very difficult (IMHO). I had a medium harness and despite my 44" chest and 15stone gut i couldn't get the damed thing tight enough to stop the unit wobbling about. I found getting into the standard rig awkward and i didn't like all the dangly bits you pulled down to adjust the harness. ATB Mark

I like the standard harness.I like the way I can snug it up so nothing moves without anything elastic involved. It was not designed by idiots as many will try to imply, although the D-rings in the small of my back do perplex me.

I fitted a back plate last night. Back to the oc days. Not sure I like it and am having second thoughts. The unit sits very far back and I have no room for another hole on back plate. Using DSS pro fit harness. Tony |

| Re: Inspo Harness Question The D rings are in the wrong place and they fold flat under the harness making stage drills very difficult (IMHO). Those were my experiences too, but then I didn't like stab jackets or my Transpac II harness either for the same reasons. YMMV - wait to see how it goes on Mod 1. Changing over to a backplate/harness combination is no great task anyway.I had a medium harness and despite my 44" chest and 15stone gut i couldn't get the damed thing tight enough to stop the unit wobbling about. | Re: Inspo Harness Question I was unhappy with the fit and large anounts of trailing straps after you snug stuff up. I also did not like the idea of the D rings sticking out of the wing. Its probably some DIR cobweb in my brain but I did'nt like the idea of an entaglement point, the D ring, attached to my primary bouyancy and therefore a real issue if it had to be cut away. The harness has been replaced with a backplate but I am still tinkering with the counterlung hold downs.

| I HAVE GONE FROM A STANDARD UNIT , TRIED A B/PLATE AND HARNESS, THEN BACK TO THE STANDARD UNIT. FROM THERE I WENT TO AN aLIBOX WHICH I PERSONALLY THINK IS GREAT, BUT HAVING CHANGED THE WING FOR MY OMS AND IQ HARNESS, I HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY STAGE CONFIGURATION, SO I'M USING MY OMS WITH THE STANDARD HARNESS, AND SOME ADDED BILLY RINGS (ATTACHED TO THE aLIBOX. I F ANYONE HAS PROBLEMS WITH THE COUNTERLUNG D RINGS YOU CAN GET UNDERCOUNTERLUNG D RINGS WHICH PERMINENTLY STICK OUT, I HAVE SOME AND TRIED THEM, BUT AM NOW BACK TO THE STANDARD HARNESS AND AM HAPPY WITH IT. BUT THE TWEAKING GOES ON.G |
