Re: Vision V02_01_04 released

Well it installs ok and I've fired up and shut down the unit successfully in the comfort of my apartment.

There's new versions of the Communicator and Log Viewer (although it hasn't sorted out my issues with the sorting of the dive log).

Thumbs up Re: Vision V02_01_04 released

email came out this morning as below

Dear Vision Owner,

Software Version 02.01.04 has now been released and should be downloaded from the website http://www.apdiving.com/downloads/software/ and uploaded to your rebreather. It replaces Version 02.01.03.

IMPORTANT: In the download pack is a new APD Communicator which must be installed first, and must be used to install the new program to the Vision lid !

This version completely over-writes previous software, so simply load V02.01.04, regardless of which version you have currently on your Vision lid. Also released are new versions of the APD Communicator and APD LogViewer.

All the language versions are available to everyone. You can change from one language to another and back again simply by uploading the desired language file.

V02.01.04 is an open upgrade. It is suitable for all Vision lids, regardless of the decompression option chosen and regardless of the serial number, so one copy of the software can be uploaded to all (Vision) rebreathers. The personal details will be retained on the handset as will the decompression software status, dive logs and memory buffer – so it is quite in order to upload this new software in between dives, in fact at your earliest convenience.

Download Instructions:

Step 1) Download the file:
Go to http://www.apdiving.com/downloads/software/ and select the language version you require. Enter the required registration information and download the zip file to a readily accessible location on your PC . The zip file contains the Upload software for your Vision electronics and the two APD programs, Communicator and LogViewer. The software for your Vision electronics (Vision_V02.01.04_English_Sport_System.ccr) is NOT an executable file, so “double clicking it” won’t work – instead go to step 2:
Step 2) Install the new APD Communicator:
Once the files have been extracted, firstly install the APD Communicator by double-clicking on it. It simply replaces your installed program, there is no need to “uninstall” the old version. Leave the “create a desktop icon” box ticked and it will simply overwrite your old desktop icon.
Step 3) Connect your PC to the Vision lid:
Step 4) Run the APD Communicator Program:
Step 5) Upload the Vision ccr file to the rebreather
Step 6) Install the APD LogViewer Program

On the Download site http://www.apdiving.com/downloads/software/, you’ll see there are full description guides to downloading, uploading and trouble shooting as well as the guide for Macintosh owners.

Changes to Code from V02_01_03 to V02_01_04

Software Release Date: 8th January 2007

  • The occasional unearned Missed Deco warnings bug fixed
  • New battery indicator switching levels: 3 to 2 at 5.25 volts; 2 to 1 at 5.0v ; 1 to 0 at 4.80v. Low battery warning and switch to 2nd battery at 4.8v.
  • Improved battery measurement, improving accuracy and battery life.
  • The OTU and CNS warnings are now suppressible every 20 mins instead of 5 mins and these warnings are now suppressed on the screen display, as well as the audible alarm. There is discussion on using different values for the OTU warnings but this is not concluded.
  • The battery warning (audible and HUD) is now also suppressed from the display screen.

  • Improved shut down routine ensuring complete C2 shutdown.
  • The “Pressure Sensor Failure” warning has been changed to “Depth Sensor Failure”. In the event of a pressure/depth sensor failure whilst on the surface, the diver is given the option to dive and if “yes” is selected the diver is asked for the ambient pressure to calibrate the unit, the same way as a Classic Inspiration calibrates. By calling it a pressure sensor there was a risk that the diver assumed it was an oxygen pressure sensor that has failed, so the terminology has been changed to “Depth Sensor” to help clarification. Please note: the PO2 calculation and display is, and always has been, independent of the depth pressure sensor.
  • Fixed logbook bug to record all dive starts even when the surface interval is less than 5 mins. Previously, if the unit was switched off and on during a surface interval with a duration less than 5 mins then the start of the 2nd dive was not recorded properly.
APD Communicator (Version 3.1.1.0) Changes since previous release:
  • Improved uploading according to available devices. New improved checking and reporting features for correct or incorrect upload.
  • German translations changed

APD LogViewer (Version 3.1.1.6) Changes since previous release:
  • Battery block levels set according to code version
  • Some moving around of items to make space for German translations
  • Corrections for extended character set handling – now handles Norwegian characters or any characters used by the diver on the information page.
  • Auto/Manual setpoint change indicator on Handset Screen mimic enabled

Nicky

Re: Vision V02_01_04 released

The original mail from Nicky contained a table which summarises the suppressable warnings, as this release now also allows for suppression of low battery warnings. They look a bit garbled in the mails above, so I'll try to make them more readable as I think it is important info.
Here it is:

Error Warning Suppression Table

Error warning -- HUB and audible alarm -- Display screen -- Time (mins)
Low oxygen ------------No ---------------------------------No ------------------------0
High oxygen -----------No ---------------------------------No ----------------------- 0
Cell warning -----------Yes ------------------------------- No ----------------------- 5
Low battery ------------Yes ------------------------------ Yes ---------------------- 5
Scrubber --------------- Yes ------------------------------ No ------------------------ 5
Scrubber (level 2) ---- No ------------------------------- No ----------------------- 0
CNS --------------------- Yes ----------------------------- Yes ---------------------- 20
OTU ----------------------Yes ------------------------------Yes ---------------------- 20

It should be interpreted as follows:
  • high and low oxygen alarms and 2nd level scrubber warning are not suppressable, so will always show on HUD, sound the alarm and will be shown on display.
  • low battery warning can be suppressed after initial show-up; suppression will lead to not showing anymore on HUD, not sounding alarm, and not showing on display anymore. Suppression is temporary and last 5 minutes, so after 5 minutes it will show again on HUD, sound alarm, and show on display, at which time they can be suppressed again for 5 minutes.
  • cell warning and 1st level scrubber warning can also be suppressed after initial show-up. they are suppressable for 5 minutes, but even during suppression they will still show on display. They will however not show on HUD or sound the alarm during suppression.
  • CNS and OTU warnings can be suppressed after initial show-up; suppression will lead to not showing anymore on HUD, not sounding alarm, and not showing on display anymore. Suppression is temporary and lasts 20 minutes, so after 20 minutes it will show again on HUD, sound alarm, and show on display, at which time they can be suppressed again for 20 minutes.
One more remark: the voltages at which the visual battery bar indication on top of the display will drop, have slightly changed also from the previous version.
Here is a comparison between V02.01.03 and the latest V02.01.04:
  • switch from 3 to 2 bars at 5.25 volt: no change here, was already 5.25 volt;
  • switch from 2 to 1 bar at 5.10 volt: is now lowered to 5.00 volt in new version, i.e. 2 bars will now show a bit longer before dropping back to 1 bar;
  • switch from 1 to 0 bar at 4.80 volt : no change here; unit switched and still switches at this voltage to the 2nd battery.
----------------
Late addition: Martin Parker made a usefull remark as to the "low battery" warning suppression: once the unit gives this warning (at 4.8 volt), ot will also switch from battery (typically from B1 to B2), and as such B1 is now "relieved" from the heavy work and is likely to rise again above 4.80 volt (as it doesn't have to drive the power-consuming solenoid anymore).
Assuming B2 has enough "juice" for its new heavier job, so will not also generate a "low battery" warning, the net effect is that once the low battery warning has been suppressed by the diver, it will not come back again untill the moment that B2 also reaches "low battery" - by which time you most likely will have left the water, and replaced B1....

Hope this helps. Ciao,

Tino.
