| Vision display issues :( So I've been out of the water for two months (work...I'm a techie, but it's a retail business, and fourth quarter is freakin' nuts...) I decide that I finally have a breather for a New Year's dive today, and put my Evo back together after a long rest. I've got one of the first Evo's - I dove the prototypes, and signed up about nine months before it was available, so my unit itself dates to September '05. It's been flawless until now. I turn on the display, and there's stuck pixels everwhere. Not just one stuck pixel, but entire lines that won't turn on. See attached photograph. No warning, no signs of impending doom, just a non-functional display. Anyone else seen this? It's like there was a crappy solder joint or something in the handset connecting it to the display, and it's gone south... What bugs me is that it's not like I dropped the unit, banged it, or anything. It's been sitting, unused (sans a fresh battery) on the dive shelf for two months. Sigh. Oh, well, at least it's actually due for the annual service... and I get to put an awesome pair of doubles together using my "bank" bottles (I keep O2 and 'mix around in a couple of old 80's, and use a Baby Booster...) I'm attaching a second picture of the donor tanks for the doubles, to share how cool I'll look until the unit comes back from APD...yeah, they're hot pink...my New Year's resolution is to have no shame, whatsoever, as long as I'm gettin' wet. |
