using Inspirations in the Philippines?

I'm not sure where else to post this one so I plumped for in here because we both use Inspos!

We're off to the Philippines again in 12 months time. I wondered if any of you know where/how to get slime in Coron or if anyone in Manila sells the correct grade slime for Inspos? I suppose it's too much to hope that anyone even remotely near Coron would stock the stuff!

Taking it out with us would be far too costly due to KLM's luggage allowance and the even more punitive luggage allowance on the internal flights! I was wondering if there's any way to get it shipped so I'm planning as far in advance as possible.

Best wishes for Crimbo to y'all...

Martin and TJ

The last time I got sorb I got it in Manila from the IANT RHQ, owners name is Alex Santos. I can not remember the name of the shop. I have a friend going to Coron in a couple weeks with his MEG I will ask him what he is doing reguarding the sorb and get back to you.

Re: using Inspirations in the Philippines?

I contacted a centre in Coron Discovery Divers: Wreck Tek & scuba diving in Coron, Palawan, Phlippines about o2 fills etc, with a view to going over there earlier this year and diving with a rebreather, and I think he said he could get sorb, not sure but might be worth dropping him an email, my trip fell through so I never got over there YET. Hoping to go sometime next year. When are you hoping to go?

Hi guys... thanks for the tip off about Alex Santos, I've now written to him. I've also written to Discovery too.

We're off during January 2009 hopefully. We've been out there twice now this year... we first went in January for three weeks and we liked it so much we went back for a month during the summer. The wrecks are bloody awesome and almost the entire dive time is carried out inside the wrecks without seeing daylight. You do need to be careful however as the dive outfits can be a bit hit and miss on safety at times. I believe from what I've heard that Discovery are extremely safety conscious however the outfit we used were cheap and cheerful and extremely good value for money on every aspect. The other thing that will overwhelm you is just how friendly they are out there.

Just watch yourself in Manila though.

If you'd like to see our photos from the trip in January go to:

and click the relavent link there.

Cheers...

No one stocks sorb in Coron (its a one horse town......without a horse)

I left a keg in Coron- but that was a few years ago so not sure if its still there, (at Discovery Divers resort) your welcome to that if Gunter still has it

If Alex cant help you can contact some of the tech diving shops on PG and get them to send some to Coron for you

Hi Guys,

I just came back from diving Coron Bay in October. We stayed at Sangat Island with Andy Pownall for 6 days of some of the best wreck penetration diving ever.

Sangat Island

Andy arranged sorb for me and he has O2 up to 100bar which isn't a drama as all the wrecks are withing a 15 min boat ride from his resort and you can fill your tanks between dives. The deepest dive was around the 43M mark and they are quite happy to accommodate long duration dives.

I too am going back and have started to make arrangements for a CCR dive trip around August 2008.

Drop me a PM if anyone is interested in coming along.

Regards,

Lance

Re: using Inspirations in the Philippines?

Word of warning... the weather in August is attrocious with poor viz and a lot of rain! We did January and August last year - January was great. We're off again in January 2009. Enjoy!

Oh and thanks again guys for the help.

Best wishes,

Martin and Tracy

Re: using Inspirations in the Philippines?

Hi guys!
We do live aboards on a regular basis. La Laguna Beach Club, Puerto Galera Scuba Diving Philippines
and WELCOME to RAGS 2: La Laguna Beach Club and DIve Centre
We also stop at Apo reef for some really nice reef diving.
Our live aboard leave from Puerto Galera which is easy to get to and we arrange pick ups direct from the airport in Manila.
Here are two clips from the same trip in December 2007

Cheers
