Diamond HUD

I have been chasing information on the Diamond HUD on the Inspiration. Is anyone using one at the moment that can comment. I have e-mailed them 3 or 4 times but am yet to get a response. The following are the questions that I asked.

· Using the simulator to help understand the problem I don’t understand how to determine which cell reading is being displayed. Eg if I set the simulator to 1.6,1.1 and 1.1 if flashed green 8 times but how do I know what this is as there seems to be no way to determine when the flashing for one cell stops and the next starts. To me this appears as 8 green flashed which could be 1.3,1.2,1.3. Is this a simulator thing or is this how the unit operates ?
· Your data sheet mentions user configuration. (good/bad flash, set point hi/lo, led brightness) . What do these options mean. Eg what id good/bad flash ? etc
· What is the calibration process for the unit ?
· Does this interfere with the standard inspiration electronics in any way, or effect the standard sensor readings ?

Appreciate any feedback you can provide.

Re: Diamond HUD

If you are talking about The Diamond HUD from Rebreather Solutions, maybe I can help...

I know the designer is taking an extended vacation to dive the caves of Florida - it is quiet possible he is not picking mails up, as my experience is that he is incredibly prompt. I have sent your request to his private e-mail address.

To try and answer your questions, please note I am a user (on a KISS) and not the manufacturer:

Using the simulator to help understand the problem I don’t understand how to determine which cell reading is being displayed.
- Depends how it is wired. I know which cell I call cell 1, this is the first flash. Cell 2 is the second flash, etc.

If I set the simulator to 1.6,1.1 and 1.1 if flashed green 8 times
- If it is 8 consistent flashes it is 1.8, for the above you should get 6 flashes pause 1 flash pause 1 flash.

but how do I know what this is as there seems to be no way to determine when the flashing for one cell stops and the next starts.
- There is a distinct pause between each series of flashes

led brightness
- You can adjust how bright the HUD is

good/bad flash
- Instead of using smithers code, you can set a set point and the HUD will say if you are on set point, above set point or below set point - I have never used this

What is the calibration process for the unit
- Very easy! Easier to show than explain. Flush loop with 100%, turn unit on, holding the on switch in till the HUD flashes in a particular manner telling you it is calibrated.

If you are referring to Joerg (York on RBW) then I conquer.

We had nice discussion about making a secondary display for my Vision, and Joerg was very responsive and co-operative. I learned a lot about the Diamond HUD in the process...

Other than that, I have never used one...

Dive*Ski,
PM sent - let me know if you don't receive it.
Still in cave country, but had some extended time of internet access. Sorry for the delay... got some good dives in though (much needed).
