| Re: Rate my rebreather! Thanks for all your replies, there is no way that I will get the wing and harness fitted without a backplate. The counterlung webbing come up so far because otherwise the backplate crushes the clips and doesn't sit properly, even when the original holes in the webbing line up. I had to make a new hole further up to get it to work, Even writing it now it seems like a bad idea! ![]() ![]() Will |

If not I am likley to be at Wraysbury on Saterday by 10:30am. Bring the unit over and ill have a look at it for you. Confirm with me on Thursday if your interested. ATB Mark

| Re: Rate my rebreather! Once you get this rigged up some photos would be good. None of my wings would accommodate such rigging so it would be interesting to see yours. I'm having some surgery this week, so I will be out of comission for a couple of weeks. I'll give it a try as soon as I am up and around. As I menioned, I haven't actually used it yet, so I may be completely off base here!ATB Mark

| Re: Rate my rebreather! just wrestled with it all day, think I have sorted the problem - dug out an old backplate that has more room 'behind' it, just realised that the clips on the webbing aren't standard - are there any parts on this unit you haven't modified Mark? ![]() Anyway, I got the T-pieces to be horizontal when standing without modifying them, so all is well in the world... if AP returns my head in time (you never know, miracles do happen ) I may be tempted to drag myself down to Wraysbury this Saturday... |

| Re: Rate my rebreather! Hi there, hi Just wondering why you have chosen to use a backplate when you have the ali box? I just bought a box from Michael and he claims that he has no idea why people would use a back plate in addition to the box, since the box is already so sturdy. Just a thought. Enjoy the Inspiration. I think you will like it. Regards, Randy if you use the alibox with the standard harness the its not nessasary to use a back plate , ![]() |

| Re: Rate my rebreather! if you use the alibox with the standard harness the its not nessasary to use a back plate Same for every other frame out there... I believe it was a misunderstanding on the question... If planning to use with standard APD harness, then no backplate is needed - which is the same set-up as standard APD box - since the harness acts as a soft-back-plate. |

| Re: Rate my rebreather! (MK2) Hello, After all your advice I had another look and took off the backplate, then fitted to original harness and buddy redwing straight to the Alibox - I see now the holes in the backplate line up to the holes on the box. Passed the course on it, then lost the AP harness ASAP as there were far too many straps.. For my first 'fun' dive I used a Custom Divers backplate (with comfort pad), and a clip in the left harness which really helps me getting in and out of the unit, a one-piece harness and steel backplate is a definite improvement and allows a lot more personalisation. DT neoprene lungs (as the original ones were far too big and I was pressing my nadgers instead of the manual add buttons... ![]() My rescue strategy is an Alu 7L on my left, typically 36-40 % down to 35mm and leaving the 3L for loop use only (WHY does the Inspiration manual make frequent reference to the use of 3L diluent as bailout? Do they have very low SAC in Cornwall?) All in all I am very impressed, the Inspiration is a very solid piece of equipment which has a lot to offer with a bit of TLC and thought... the afterparts are a genuine improvement on the comfy but useless harness and cheesy yellow box ![]() Any thoughts on the pictures are more than welcome.. Especially, how to stop the wrist weight - sorry computer- from slipping round my wrist, Also where can I get spare neoprene counterlungs, they are a work of art! My only grumble is that it is now harder to operate my suit dump, and the BCD control is very hard to reach- I am having to use my lower-left dump (not a bad thing) and avoid using the wing on the surface. Still have to work out my bailout strategy for long dives, when to start using 2 stages, where to put the torch, holding stops comfortably..etc Cheers Will |

(MK2) Especially, how to stop the wrist weight - sorry computer- from slipping round my wrist If you mean the Shearwater you seem to have on your right... then I'd reccomend moving it up your arm about 4-6" The design isn't suitable to wear on your wrist like a watch but works fine around your forearm, although you need to make sure it has the elasticated VR£'esqu straps IMO. Lastly your suit looks to be of the shiney/smooth variety so I'm not sure how it'll work even there, maybe put a snoopy loop round your arm for it to grip onto?

Not to mention it is now personalised and not like all the other YELLOW BOXES!! You have me wondering what you need the JCB in the background of the first pic for tho ![]() Happy diving Dude. | Re: Rate my rebreather! you could put your pressure gauges behind you (onr each side), make up a couple of bungee loops on your wing bottom or somewhere near and put the gauges in them. When you want to see them just reach behind and grab the gauge and pull it foward, after checking let it go and it will return to its rear position. You will be suprised as to how much more uncluttered it makes the front. Dave |
