| Between a rock and a hard place Hi folks, I find myself having serius doubt and can't figure out what's the right thing to do. So any inputs would be welcome. I'm a happy owner an excellent Inspo Classic that has given me no trouble at all. Have done around 30 hours on it since purchase in March this year and I know that CCR is the way for me . So naturally I have thought about altering my Classic to make it better - for me anyways - and that would include upgrade on electronics (Deep Pursuit, Hammerhead, Vision), HUD and BOV. So here's my dilemma: Should I - 1. keep my thrusted Classic and upgrade it - looking at 2500£ish 2. Put it up for sale (have done that reluctantly) and look around for some of the new stuff (Sentinel) that already have the things I'm looking for. Looking forward to any inputs... Cheers Soren

| Re: Between a rock and a hard place Looking forward to any inputs... Personally having dived the Vision and Shearwater controllers, I understand that it is a difficult decision. With the "older" Shearwater controller (i.e. mine - before the Pursuit was introduced), IMHO, the advantage is to the Vision for these reasons:
The only advantage the Vision has is the Temp-Stick, but the Deep Pursuit has some new features that not available on other units like auto-light sensing back-light as well as VPM algorithm is expected to be available (my fingers are crossed!). If you already have a Classic, you only need to buy the Deep Pursuit lid and re-use the remaining of the scrubber parts as is. The Classic lid is now your back-up lid in case of break-down. From the economic view-point, it might be the better option. Just IMHO... |

And it depends on when you want your toy to work. Vision is by far the easiest way to upgrade with lots of usfull features now.The only advantage the Vision has is the Temp-Stick, but the Deep Pursuit has some new features that not available on other units like auto-light sensing back-light as well as VPM algorithm is expected to be available (my fingers are crossed!).

I can definatly understand Søren's train of thought. All the really nice things to have on the classic inspiration, cost a certain amount of money.Dive Safe Mark Having gone down the route of altering quite a few things on the unit myself, I can see that the sum spent on altering and original purchase of unit is equal to the price of a rEvo with Shearwater electronics and a BOV. And the rEvo is a smaller unit with less drag. Sentinel may be within range too, but first they need to make them, and then the first people to discover unforseen issues with the new product. It's relatively cheap to add a Shearwater HUD to the classic and not altering it in any dramatic way. If you deside to sell the unit in a year, the financial loss will be within reasonable limits. |

| Re: Between a rock and a hard place ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What he said ![]() I don't trust the Vision. The single hand set is a major flaw IMHO. I would dive the Vision with a back up system fitted. Personally having dived the Shear water GF for a while I would have a go on the Shear water Pursuit for the Classic. I was very very impressed by what i saw at the dive show. If not then Id look at the Sentinel thing. for about the same money as the Vision and the cost of the course would be offset by the cost of the back up system and the BOV you need to fit to the Vision to make it an excellent CCR.
