Re: New AP Bov

I think Martin said that the shiny bit is Stainless on the proto and will be brass on the production one.

I will see if I can get Martin to do us a nice talk through at DEMA

We can try to get a list of questions if you like

Re: New AP Bov

The AP BOV also contains the ADV I discussed this with Martin regarding Hypoxic mixes but not sure of his answer.

Kevin told me his BOV would be reduced in size for the production model

Phew... that was one 'ell of a Beast!

Personally, someone little like me would have issues with something that size; but the AP BOV is nice and neat and would suit me down to the ground. Being 5ft and of the female persuasion the the BOV on the Sentinel would be massively restrictive and completely impractical, but the AP one ticks the right boxes. However, the Pelagian one is really dinky!!!

Interested to see how much Kevin reduces the size of the one they had on display at the show.....

I understand Kevin is selling a support unit that will enable all divers, particularly those only 5ft and female, to rest their weary heads whilst doing pre-dive stuff and waiting on the diveboat bench for slack

It sounds an essential extra at the moment

Re: New AP Bov

I wonder how easy it would be to adapt the new APD BOV to a Interspiro AGA FF mask? That way you have a lovely BOV with the added safety of full face mask for those rare moments.......

This has been bothering me all day untill I came up with the question
If turning the inner barrel only opens an exhaust for OC then that in itself does not isolate the CC side of the loop ,therefore if there is no isolation then it is not a BOV in my understanding as you could still get ingress of caustic or water ?

No it seals the loop no idea how but it does

there are at least 3 positions
  1. cc
  2. oc
  3. closed

not sure how the adv bit fits in

Re: New AP Bov

When its in CC mode there is a small poppet valve that allows gas to be drawn from the OC side. As you start to get negative pressure in the loop the valve will open and gas will be drawn in. Not sure of the actual config but thats the general idea, whether you can switch that facility off was not so clear to me!

Re: New AP Bov

Bill Stone patented a combination mouthpiece / ADV back in 1992, but I don't think it ever made it onto production Cis-Lunars. Take a look at Breathing apparatus mouthpiece - Google Patents to see one way of doing this. I suspect the AP BOV works similarly but with the valve in a different axis.

Re: New AP Bov

Thanks for the link Dan & that is the same idea as Golum etc Bov's were you have a Ball valve which rotates across the barrel but the AP one rotates with the barrel of the DSV which was why I asked in my original post if there was a tube mounted across the inner barrel that came into line with the OC 2nd stage & the mouthpiece when the barrel was turned .
