Re: "Secondary" display for Vision units

Nor the part number you give or the one I gave lead to a valid article for UK RS customers.
Best thing to do for Beanie is to ask RS UK to get the connector from France or Germany.

Re: "Secondary" display for Vision units

Hi, have a home build and I had problem on the electronic (they did not care my breather as glass on the aircraft transport). So I disabled the controller and dived the unit for 2 weeks on a live board as mCCR. I have a Kiss system as bailout (see pic) with a constant flow of 0,7 Lt. on a sealed 1 stage Mares MR12. Monitoring with a homemade HUD(like shearwater) and 1 VR3. Works perfect and was a intensive test for the bailout system. Was a nice trip and nice diving.

We are talking about 2 separate and different things:
  1. You are talking about having the controller issue while diving, bailing out and going back with a known malfunction controller with 1 additional cell.
  2. I am talking about removing the batteries from the malfunction controller to disable it, then diving the unit for the rest of the trip as mCCR.
Also, your scenario about dealing with the Vision problem doesn't work from personal experience of others who have PM'ed me. Just FYI...

Why not ?

It should be similar to using a switch box...

Does anyone know if APD gets upset if the lid is sent back with the 4th-cell adapter still connected ?

If not, then an y-cable could be one of the easiest way for remoavble before sending back to APD - not that a switchbox is difficult either.
Phi,

I have been lagging on posting the setup that Bruce at Shearwater did for me using Johns 4th cell adaptor and some of the AP connectors I bought from John. Bascially I had him hardwire in three of the AP connectors so if my vision died in the middle of nowhere I could plug into two of the vision cells and fly her manually with the Vision completely disabled. I have used it several times and it works fine, what I have been working on is figuring out a way to piggyback into two of the other cells so I have 3 seperate PO2s in addition to the vision and one of them would be the independent 4th cell. Does anyone know if having the cells piggybacked will have an effect on milli volt readings or cause any heartache when calibrating?

I have a customer of ours who claims to have a solution for piggybacking the cells but have not seen the promised product yet.

I was diving recently with some of the AP guys and they said to remove the 4th cell adaptor before sending it back to the UK as they would not appreciate the setup at all.

I would be interested in 4 to 10 if there was an order being placed.

So, I'd say, probably not.....

Cheers,
wow thats some thing i didn't expect to hear!
but at the end of the day there unit is CE'ed as a complete system so any changes with upset them, even it some of them think it's a good change!
kind regards john

No problem is to be ordered with rsonline.de some few parts. They dispatch also to England without problems. The dispatch costs approx. 20-25 euros.
