Mounting a suit bottle to a YBOD

Hi,

I have just bought an Aluminium argon bottle and a Metalsub bracket to mount it with.

Got home and had a look at the yellow box and can't work out how to mount it. If I put it on the 'corner' it seems to dig into the wing a bit.

I have the older style lid with 4 clips.

Anyone mounted thier bottles on the the side of the unit?

Any information would be good.

Thanks

John

Re: Mounting a suit bottle to a YBOD

You can mount it on the top of the case, remove the weight pouch and use those holes... You'll need to space it far enough off the case that it doesn't squeeze your hoses. I had one mounted there spaced back and up so the hoses cleared and I wouldn't hit my head on it.

I drilled the bracket and the case and used very flat headed ss bolts so they did not scratch the tanks. I also padded out the gap between the plastic and the bracket with washers so I was clamping the case not distorting it.

Hello Mate,

If you don't get on with the clamp, you could always attach to your backplate with a loop of webbing (assuming you're using a backplate, I can't remember )

Cheers

Rich

PS - how are you getting on, on your wreck tour?

Re: Mounting a suit bottle to a YBOD

I mounted a separate plate between black box and backplate with two
poseidon quick snaps .

I didn“t want to drill holes in the side of the box, only two at the back

by the way , the plate is for sale complete with quick snaps

( Inspo is away)

Re: Mounting a suit bottle to a YBOD

Are you sorted now?

I had a 1.5 ali and now a 2L steel tank held on a 4 clip case by a Metalsub clamp.

I use a longer camband and haven't drilled the case.

I have a medium Metalsub battery on the other side. Again same style of camband.
