| Solonoid Stuck Hi all After a bit of experience from you people on in the field repairs etc. Been CC for nearly a year now, (why did n't I do it earlier) anyhow on the MOD 1 course and while doing doing general diving i practice, as am sure lots of you do, solonoid stuck open or closed drills. My question is, If this happens for real and all being well the second nature skills get you back to the boat to moan about the issue, what next??? Can the problem be sorted, checked or otherwise in the field or is it a return to APD issue and dive OC for the remianing dives?? ![]() Cheers GMC |

| Re: Solonoid Stuck Hi all It really depends on why the solenoid failed. It may be a matter or reconnecting a wire, or there could be bigger problems. The entire soleniod can be fairly easily replaced, and a lot of people carry one as a spare. After a bit of experience from you people on in the field repairs etc. Been CC for nearly a year now, (why did n't I do it earlier) anyhow on the MOD 1 course and while doing doing general diving i practice, as am sure lots of you do, solonoid stuck open or closed drills. | Re: Solonoid Stuck I have only had an Inspo solonoid stick open on me one time, and that was at 330 feet. Of course, it got my attention very quickly! Nothing like seeing your PO2 shoot sky high at that depth! I shut my O2 off, breathed it down quite a ways, opened it back up, shut it down again, etc. etc. After about 6 cycles, the solonoid started working, and have not had any problems with it since. That was about 1 1/2 years ago. I suspect, that I got a grain of sand or something stuck in it, and it just needed to work itself out. Those training exercises come in handy. I didn't find "feathering" the valve, all that difficult, but it certainly held my attention! Had I had ongoing problems with it, I would have sent it in for repairs, but fortunately, it has not repeated itself. ![]()

| Re: Solonoid Stuck Cheers for the replies Just a couple of further thoughts - stripping & lubricating, is this something that folk general carry out on a periodic basis as part of a general maintenance regeime, or only when theres a problem - ie. if it ain't broke do n't fix it. - fitting a new solonoid, is this a soldering job or simple push fit connections?
