Heavy-duty Golem hoses for YBOD

I have always liked the Meg hoses as they are the right length, strong and more cut resistance than the standard hose on YBOD.

But it was more difficult to order them from ISC (in the past).

So I was very happy to hear that Golem is selling their VERSION in 2 different lengths which could be even stronger/thicker (i.e. 5/64th inch) than the Meg hoses.

I have just changed out all of the hoses on my Vision to the Golem hoses, but what is important is the 2 back short hoses are now almost indestructible. This is important as I like to crawl into tight spaces on a wreck and have had a lot of breathing hose punctures/cut in the past.

If anyone is looking to strengthen their hoses - especially the back 2 - take a look at the Golem hoses.

You could also add to the protection by wrapping them either with the Golem hose protector, or better yet the Vertex-material hose protector from Oxycheq.

For perfect balance and symmetry, put the 11" on the right side (exhalation) and 13" on the left side (inhalation) since the left hose comes from the center of the scrubber whereas the right hose comes from the edge.

Perhaps Jakub (lof @ Golem) could offer a special package of:
  • 1 x 11" hose
  • 1 x 13" hose
for any YBOD diver who want them for their unit, instead of a pair of the same length.

Or better yet... offer a package of:
  • 1 x 11" hose
  • 1 x 13" hose
  • 1 pair of hose protectors
  • 2 x SS hose clamps
to make it a one-stop shop...

Phi,

any word on this becoming a kit and would either of these work for the front loop hoses? Thought I would ping you since you have connections with Jakub...

This is great news, as I have always thought this was a week spot in the design.

The kit is made available by Jakub (above). He aims to please...

I use the long hoses (i.e. 13-inch) for the front loop on one of the my BOV, but to be honest, I am so used to my Ray hoses for the front that I alway pick that set up most week-end.

If you use the Golem hoses in the front, there is no need to use any type of hose protector as they will make the hoses stiff. I tried and just took them off immediately.

Also, if you need the bigger hose end connection on your BOV (i.e. more than 1.5 inch), you can't use these hoses.

Phi,

one last ? were you able to use the AP threaded rings on both ends of each piece of hose or are you using stainless clamps? Wondering if the threaded inners work with the heavier hoses. Fingers on the trigger....

If you look at the picture on the first post, you should see the SS hose clamp. I also mentioned in my post.

The Golem hose is just too thick for the APD threaded rings.

I use some Scotch Mastic Tape 2228 on the hose adapters to make it fits better, but the hose clamp still has a ledge to prevent it from slipping. It is almost impossible to pull apart, trust me...

Why? Have you ever heard of a case where the hoses have failed or been cut?
