Re: Heavy-duty Golem hoses for YBOD Why? Have you ever heard of a case where the hoses have failed or been cut? Yes, mine had multiple times. And a friend had his hose slashed when we were diving the Repulse this year. Plus the APD hose is too soft (IMHO) and could be crushed/shifted easily if not careful.

| Re: Heavy-duty Golem hoses for YBOD Why? Have you ever heard of a case where the hoses have failed or been cut? I haven't had one cut yet, however I am always a little nervous in the overhead environment, cave or wreck. I think I am going to go ahead and give these new hoses a try. I also suspect they will be less apt to kink.

Re: Heavy-duty Golem hoses for YBOD What was he doing? Acting out a scene from an old Bond movie Just normal wreck diving, squeezing in/out of tight places... ![]() To be honest, it depends on how one dives - and we are not talking about trim/buoyancy... If you are tourist-type that don't get near anything sharp or penetrate while wreck diving, then you might not need the protection. But if you are like me who like to get into tight places, and hardly ever getting out of a wreck dive without scrapping my unit (especially the back hoses) against the wreck, then the odd of getting the hoses damaged increases. Anyway, it is just a heads-up for those who are interested... ![]()

Re: Heavy-duty Golem hoses for YBOD Ordered mine today. Any good tips on fixing those because I think the YBOD orinal fittings won´t work? Just plain old hose clamp, ala Aba? JH

Re: Heavy-duty Golem hoses for YBOD ...Any good tips on fixing those because I think the YBOD orinal fittings won´t work? ... As mentioned, use only the large hose adapter from the APD set and forget about the split thread parts and its ring.Wrap some self-curing tape (i.e. mentioned on other threads in the past) around the part where the split threaded parts are supposed to go so fit is better, slip the hose over and hose clamp it. I put a layer of inner tube underneath the hose clamp to prevent it from damaging the hose over time, and a couple of layers on top to keep from cutting your hands (i.e. soft after diving).
