| Submerge Productions Current Rebreather/s: | Our neoprene guy came back with "a big NO" after he reviewed the details of neoprene lungs. His boss had told him no to do it, especially after he heard that I wanted several. CE certification strikes again. I begged to do it as prototypes or homebuild kits but he would not give in. Mike, can you help us out? |

| Submerge Productions Current Rebreather/s: | Re: neoprene counter lungs Hi Mike, thanks for the reply. I'm going to wait to see what happens with the BM-CL's from Decoweenie. But others might still be interested. You need to ask Dave for the design specs, since it is his design. Peter |

| Re: neoprene counter lungs Quote: (Originally Posted by Jordi Mateo) Hi all, I posted earlier that I very much enjoy diving the ISC Meg neoprene counterlungs and see the recent post regarding a vendor for making such lungs. I'm interested in a Neoprene Cls. If anybody have Info please contact with me. I need the Cls without Dump Valve or any part. Only the Cls -1 with 3 holes -1 with 1 hole on the top Just want to add a word of caution here before it goes down the wrong road; You must request the size of the opening, not simply request quantity of holes in each lung. The port hole must be of the diameter of a specific exhaust valve / inflator valve / or T-piece . Be sure that you can insert the inner base of whatever port fitting that you are installing in the hole. Yes neoprene stretches, but you want a tight tolerance to the opening. Can the parts you are planning to use be installed after the lung is constructed? Be sure that the inner fittings are smooth, as example the inspiration fitting has a rubber boot to protect the bladder. At the same time you must consider a stand off or breathing space, as example SiTech dry suit exhaust valve has a cage to prevent the undergarment from sealing off the air flow. The Meg inner “nuts” have ridges or passages that can indent the neoprene and if stored incorrectly cause punctures in neoprene. I know ISC has changed this inner nut to a smooth ridge on current units to prevent puncture. Neoprene is tough, but like neoprene drysuits that I have owned – they leak! Pin holes are not uncommon side effect of neoprene and dive buddies comment to me regularly that I have Alka Seltzer bubbles…goes with the territory. The neoprene should be smooth inside, meaning raw unfinished neoprene so you can easily drain, rinse and sanitize the surface. You do not want nylon fabric lining the counterlung. Consider loops, straps or other fitting on the counterlung to not only fasten at the top or crotch strap bottom, but on the side for attachment to harness. Since the list sounds like a variety of ccr’s this may not be possible. I had three sets of ISC CL and recently sold one to a KISS / Inspiration instructor in WA so she could install a set on her KISS Classic. I’m not in the market for any, but appreciate the value of how snug and trim the fit is with neoprene, and can see a need for such a product. I know the ISC lungs are pricy but the fittings are all top quality, and they are labor intense for these guys to make. ron Last edited by Deep Thought : 11th December 2005 at 22:06. |

| Re: neoprene counter lungs Hi Ron, Thanks for your adviced. Quote: You must request the size of the opening, not simply request quantity of holes in each lung. The port hole must be of the diameter of a specific exhaust valve / inflator valve / or T-piece . The sizes of the all holes are for Drager P-conectors. And I would like that the holes will protect with a "Rubber Donnut" Inside and out of CL. Like the holes in the drysuits.Quote: Can the parts you are planning to use be installed after the lung is constructed? Yes.
