| Re: Flying your unit manually . Clear, Andy, and appreciated. I'm curious also, as so far replacing a solenoid was never considered "off hands" for Turtle users. I know Martin personal as well, and know he has grown increasingly cautious over time with users "repairing" their units themselves, and it it fails turn to APD to sort out the mess. Especially with jobs considering wiring, soldering, handsets etc. anyway: let's find out what happened. Keep us posted as to the results of your two buddies. With your mate's close relation with Martin it must be possible to get the reason behind it on the table. As to other 'breathers: I have a very broad interest, so am in principal positive towards any breather. I do want to know the pro's and con's though, if only to adapt my behaviour towards the weaker parts. I have great respect for the ones I have seen and touched personally, like the Meg and Boris and Optima. It's just a matter of personal opinion, but also getting used to. After 10 years, setting up my Inspo takes me less than 10 minutes. It took me over an hour when I started. You streamline your routine, above & under water. Also for that reason I ONLY dive my Inspo, so never OC again. That means lots of silly dives to oly 10-20 meters with only 40 minutes in the water, but I want to keep my CCR routine at the max. I think anyway that CCR's are the hardest to handle in the shallows, if only for buoyancy. So if I'm around in your part of the world, I'm very curious to seeing a Prism live in action! Take care, Tino. Hi Tino, I don't know about anyone else, but I don't think the Vision sucks. |

Take care, Tino. Hi Tino, I haven't talked to my buddy who lives in Indo for a while, though I think I might be going back to see him in the next few months. The other guy sold his after getting it repaired. In his case, I believe it was the possibility of having to solder, which he was willing to do, but told not to. And it was his second solenoid failure in a short period of time. On the good side, APD have sold many more units than anybody else. On the bad side, I don't envy them having to deal with the unavoidable consequence of having a certain percentage of not so competent owners, probably hundreds, who then tinker with their units and make them worse and maybe even dangerous. And I agree, I almost never do any OC any more for the same reason- keeping my routine the same for the sake of consistancy... -Andy |
