Using Kent Tooling box as a Golem Armadillo stage thing

Hi,

I have a Kent Tooling box and am wondering if anyone also has one and clips their stages to that rather than their waist or wing d-rings?

I have been reading the article about it Armadillio system here:

http://www.rebreatherworld.com/rebre...iguration.html

I looks to me that the butt plate thing and the bottom of the Kent box would provide a very similar attachment point.

Heres a good article about the Kent box for those unfamiliar with it.

http://www.rebreatherworld.com/inspi...t=kent+tooling

Can anyone see any problems attaching stages to the box?

Cheers

Ian

Shouldnt be a problem, I've seen it done. I do a similar thing with the holes in the buttplate of the narked @ ninety stand for my meg. Works a treat.

I have given it some thought but I just have not gotten around to attaching the valve end bungies. I have attached the tank bottom clip to the KT base before with the top of the tank in the normal chest D ring attachment. I did not like that configuration as the tank bottom seemed to move around more and bang against the KT frame making noise and shifting the frame on my back.

Re: Using Kent Tooling box as a Golem Armadillo stage thing

I use the bottom bars of the Kent tooling frame to attach my sidemounts, the top clip I attach to my chest D-ring and at the bottom clip position I use a carabiner as I find that easier to attach to the frame. I use the bottom bar of the frame and find that the side sling (usually a 7 litre steel, but sometimes 80 cuft Ali) sits tucked in close.

It does sometimes clonk against the frame, but that tends to be only when I roll towards my right side and does not cause any discomfort.

When I get back home I can try and get a couple of photos if that would help.

All the best

I have a KiwiDiver SS Box fitted to my vision and after buying the Armadillo Kit I realised that the base struts were in the same position. So... off came the butt plate and I now clip off the stages to the struts and it works a charm. As an aside the struts also make a great place to nose clip additional slings on big dives.

If you could post some photos that would be great.

Also, why is using a loop of bungee better than clipping the top of the stages?

Cheers

I believe a bungee allows the tanks to ride more streamlined under you arm pits.

Having seen an armadillo in use, it certainly does put them in a much more streamlined position, while leaving them easy to access when required. They probably move around less than conventionally mounted stages too.

Cheers,

Distance between mounts on Armadillo stage thing

Could somebody tell me the distance between the but ring & the elastic valve loop on an armadillo system please ? I use the KT box as well but have different length legs on mine .
TIA
