| Evolution Travel Hello All, I just started diving an Evolution and plan to take it on the road. I tried to fit it into all my various wheeled dive bags without much luck, they all are just a tad bit small. I was wondering what everyone else uses for wheeled bags? I hate the thought of carrying that plastic case with me. Thanks for the guidance! ![]()

| Re: Evolution Travel Salamon makes a bag that is the perfect size for the evolution. it's the Salomon Experience Upright Wheeled Luggage. Not sure if it's been discontinued, it was on close out at REI. the sides are reinforced and offers a nice balance between light and protective. We had a problem with an internal zipper but otherwise they seem well made.

| Re: Evolution Travel A pelican 1620 case fits my evolution just right (maybe a bit tight) but its a pain if TSA wants to see inside the shell. When I removed the AP harness and changed to a normal backplate it fits really well. The pelican 1630 fits the unit and virtually all the dive gear I need including a 40 ft stage cylinder. However... once loaded its almost 100 lbs, dangeraously close to the absolute limit for most US airlines.

I would think that without the tanks it should be pretty light, under 50 lbs? I like the idea of hard case extra protection.

Just weighed mine.52.5 lbs with unit, no tanks, no back plate, empty scrubber add 17 lbs if tanks are installed. My DSS long plate weighs about 7 with harness.

| Re: Evolution Travel Hardigg Storm Case, im2750, watertight, padlockable, airtight, integrated protection system Weighs less than anything else with this much protection. It's a tight fit but it does fit. You can barely get anything else in the case except maybe a couple lift bags. When traveling in the US with the new lower weight limit I pull the cylinders and the head and it is just under the weight limit. For international I believe you can get away with leaving the cylinders in, pulling the head and your valves, for no over weight charges. It is also just under the max dimensions for over sized baggage. Just don't store the unit wet too long with it closed unless you are starting your own penicillin lab, it's air tight to a fault. Doug

| Re: Evolution Travel Hardigg Storm Case, im2750, watertight, padlockable, airtight, integrated protection system Thanks Doug, This looks like a great solution. It is lighter then the Pelican 1620, but offers good protection. I think it is the way I will go. Cory Weighs less than anything else with this much protection. It's a tight fit but it does fit. | Re: Evolution Travel I have a Dive Box from California Diving Company. I bought it for my Scuba gear, but the Evo fits in it perfectly, plus it has a place for a bail out bottle. It also makes a great rinse tub !! Attached is a picture. You can get them online from their website at The Dive Box.com. Great selection of Scuba Equipment from the top manufacturers. The one and ONLY manufacturer of The Dive Box, California Diving Company. Last edited by Kelp Krawler : 15th August 2007 at 07:11. Reason: Forgot to add the URL |
