| Re: What a pain in the butt - installing a new That is a great idea - a replacement disk for the diaphram. I wish I had thought of it. This probably should be in everybodys spares kit - it certainly will be in mine. |

| Re: What a pain in the butt - installing a new sound reasoning; can't argue with that. For the same reason I carry 1 meter of spare LP hose with me. BTW: contrary to what was mentioned somewhere before, almost all APD LP hoses (obviously not the HP ones) DO in fact have user-replaceable end fittings on them. It may not look like it, but take a closer look, and you see it is a two-part end you can unscrew (carefull: counter-clockwise if I remember well...). you can also see these parts in their illustrated pricelist (partnumber AP50B - 3/8 UNF fitting) at A.P.Valves. So you can also e.g. shorten it if if blows close to a connection. I did that at least once, and it saved the day. Beware though: it didn't blow for nothing, so better replace it... ciao, Tino. My reasoning for a disk over the diaphram is this... If the diaphram was punctured there probably is some reason for it, and there is a good chance something else was damaged and it might simply happen again.. I would like to have both with me (right now I just carry a normal t-piece with me that I could install).. If it could be verified that it shouldn't happen again then do the correct fix.. otherwise plug it and go diving.. |

The AP fittings are great for making custom hose.. They are a bit pricey, but they allow alot of flexibility..

| Re: What a pain in the butt - installing a new I had an issue with the hose fitting on the manifold too, but fixed it with a small file. Basically the hex on the hose was either too large or extended too close to the seat (O ring) and fouled on the manifold (or to put it another way, the flat section was too small). I just filed a small chamfer on the bottom of the hex and it went in fine. Right thread, right size, but it just fouled by a fraction. Fixed in about 5 mins with a $2 file. JD
