Re: Inspiration Classic Or Vision

Between the two Vision:
excellent display in a more solid handset, HUD, TempStick, integrated deco.
Ideally add a VR3 (or at least a redundant, independent pO2 monitor) via NarkedAt90's cell holder.

two factors
cost- a classic could be picked up for as little as £1500 where as a vision £3500 both s/hand so you can be diving bubble free for as little as £2500
what sort of diving you do if your just getting started and only plan to do std dives then classic with vr3 is more than good enough but if you want to progress to trimix quickly then vision best bet.

Re: Inspiration Classic Or Vision

the vision shines in the realm of eCCR's. the one thing i'd plan on adding down the line is a VR3/shearwater, as stefan says, with a narked at 90 4th cell adapter... any secondary po2 meter capable of being plugged into all 3 cells and used as a primary in case you have a melt down on a remote trip...something you'd really want on any expedition rebreather.

Re: Inspiration Classic Or Vision

If your thinking new then you'd have to go for a Vision as the Classic isn't a hell of a lot cheaper.

If your not sure if rebreathers are for you or the direction you'll be heading with your diving then a second hand Classic will do the trick.

The Classic is basic in terms of electronics but user friendly. It is fine for Trimix dives but you'll have to consider a VR3 or/and laminating runtimes.

personally I prefer the classic over a vision.. ALthough the vision electronics are slick there are 2 things I don't trust..

1) shared power source
2) single shared display (I dont consider the HUD a second display)

Used Classisc can be found in the states for 4-4.5K,
If you want integrated deco you could get a HH and would have the classic head as a backup and still save a few thousand dollars over a new vision..

I have more than a few dives on a vision and chose to stay with the setup I already have (classic with HH)...

Daniel,
I did not see where you're at. If you're in the LA area you have the option of joining the Rebreather club, and can use either. Contact Extreme Scuba if you're interested.
