| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Evo mod to a backplate I'm sorry I was unavailable to answer your call, that does occasionally happen. You were given the opportunity to leave your name and number, but declined to do so. I do return my calls. Tobin,Any specialty hardware for Rebreather's that I choose to produce is almost exclusively the result of parts friends of mine have asked me to make. If others want them great, if not oh well. It is a bit unrealistic to expect any specialty suppliers to the Rebreather market to have a bank of application engineers waiting to take your call. The answer you were given was the truth, we don't BS people here, if the person answering the call doesn't have the information you request they are instructed to tell you exactly that. If your current solution is meeting your needs why are you seeking another? Why? Tobin I was genuinely interested in knowing how your product could improve my current solution, not challenging it's usefulness. Obviously from my conversation with you today you do not have the patience or the interest to answer questions from an ignorant potential customer that can't figure things out on his own, so we don't need to discuss this any further. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. After our phone conversation today, I've about hit the limit on my patience with being treated rudely and I don't really care to exchange messages with you on this board. If you have anything further to say to me, I can come see you in Pasadena and you can tell me in person. Thanks for your reply.... and please stay off my thread. |

| Re: Evo mod to a backplate Couple that with the fact that the back of your bottles is actually hanging off the wing, not the webbing, and there's good reason to put a standard harness on the unit. I can't actually think why anyone thought it was a good idea to hang weight off the _wing_ for the hip d-ring, instead of the harness. . Most people I know that use the AP harness clip the tanks to the shoulder d-ring and the waiste d ring.. The AP harness takes a bit of adjusting to get it right.. If you have the right size for your body it works well, the problem is when you are between sizes.. If I uses a DS the large ap harness works quite well for me but in a wetsuit it really sucks, I need a med harness there (which works like craop if I try it on a ds) I switched to a large Oxycheq A-Pak lite (no pockets) and it really works well in all my exposure protection plus its very confortable.. I'll never go back to a metal backplate for Rebreather diving.. I did make a few mods to make it more friendly.. I sewed in 2 side mounted d-rings at the top to make clipping stages easier.. I didn;t like the side mounted metal d rings (they didnt come out far enough and the cls rub against it)..

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | It's not what you say, it's how you say it. You should heed your own words.Even though you made a public post more or less saying that the DSS employee was inept Tobin gave you a measured and polite explanation for the response you got on the phone. Having known Tobin for some years I can tell you that I've been more than welcome at his rather impressive facility, that he has answered an endless amount of questions regarding the (cool) hardware he makes as well as the (even cooler) hardware he uses to make it. I guess it all depends on the approach you take. But inquiring about someone's product, insulting that person in the process, and then expecting him not to reply in "your" thread is going too far. First of all, anyone being attacked has a right to respond, more so if it's done politely. Second, it's not "your" thread. It bares your handle as you started it, but it's a public forum belonging to someone other than you. Last but not least your mano a mano remark is uncalled for.
