Brand Inspo Vision - broken

Hi Folks,

I just wanted to see if anyone else had the same problem with their new vision heads.

I took delivery of my rebreather the other day and the first thing i did when i took it out of the box was to put the batteries into the head so i could have a little play.

Straight away there was something wrong. A couple of times i turned it on and only a black screen was displayed. I could only get it to shut off by removing the batteries. Another couple of times the screen stayed blank but the backlight was on. Also the buzzer would sound off a couple of times and the soleniod would continually click on and off. Needless to say the head was totally fubar.

Only one time did i manage to get through to the menu options and i haven't been able to repeat that triumph.

I called AP straight away and they listened to what i had to say. They called me back 5 mintues later and there is a brand new head on its way to me. Pretty ok service IMO. It would be better though if the ehad had arrived in condition to support life underwater in the first place.

Anyone else have this? It is a little bit odd that it managed to get out of the factory without even being able to boot up. It could have been damaged in transit though so maybe AP should think about shipping the head seperately in a better container than the black and yellow inspo box.

Re: Brand Inspo Vision - broken

Just had exactly the same problem fixed in the same manner by AP FOC myself. Given it was an 18 month old head and out of warranty that is exceptional service . Apparently a diode in the head had malfunctioned. THis was causing the unit to stay on with ghosting on the screen (blank but ever so slightly illuminated if you see what I mean) even when turned off and thus over a week or so draining down B1. THis was the second time it had been back as the first time they couldn't replicate the fault, I got it back, did one dive and this time the intermittent fault became permanent . THen they were able to track it down.

Yep, if i turned the screen and looked at it almost sideways then there was writing evident on the screen. Sounds like a similar issue.

Re: Brand Inspo Vision - broken

I've got another thread from a week ago with similar results of how the electronics were crashing:

http://www.rebreatherworld.com/inspi...-crashing.html

My head was shipped back week or two ago along with the other persons unit that crashed the same way on our trip, haven't gotten a response back about it yet.
