Remember it was lurking in the rEvo a few weeks ago, when someone couldn't turn it off? Piezo switches? What's the new owner been eating/drinking (or not) in ghe last week? A few beers, a greasy burger, come back after last drinks at skiffies, and I'll bet it works a treat for him...

Re: Strange but true Baz, have a look at PIEZOCRYST: Advanced Sensorics GmbH - Piezoelectric Sensors for a description on how piezo-electric pressure sensors work. ciao, Tino. We are making progress, the thing fires up 50-60% of the time now for him. How do they work ??? regards Baz

Re: Strange but true So many funny replies, but not a lot of help.... Let me try to add to my previous reply: there was a very recent thread on the Inspiration mailing list on the various types of wrist-straps used with the handset. Martin Parker (APD's CEO) wrote basically: DON'T use thicker-than-standard straps on the handset, because the yellow part you see in the middle of it is effectively a thick flexible membrane, and compressing it too much by e.g. using very thick straps may pressurize the membrane unduly and damage electronics and/or make the buttons act weird (due to unintended applied pressure, or the other way around, i.e. not being able to release applied pressure; piezo switches measure pressure-DIFFERENCES). I don't know if this is relevant here, but you may want to check it out, e.g. try if removing the straps makes any difference... good luck, Tino. Baz, have a look at PIEZOCRYST: Advanced Sensorics GmbH - Piezoelectric Sensors for a description on how piezo-electric pressure sensors work. ciao, Tino.

Re: Strange but true Tino .... once again you have proved your worth, many thanks for the info on the Piezo switches. Its a pity our country cousins out in the West of Oz can't be more helpful. I am going to ask APD about this because it seems that it is not body static which is causing the problem based on this info below taken from the link. "piezoelectric technology is insensitive to electromagnetic fields and radiation" The guy is getting better at switching the unit on/off but it still is not correct. We have several units in the store (stock and school units) but he has the same problem with all of them, so it is not the units. Its got so silly that we are trying things like taking shoes off and using thumbs instead of forefingers on the buttons all with mixed results. It was interesting that one other guy earlier mentioned that a friend of his had the very same problem but it slowly went away, as it appears to be doing with my guy. Anyone had the same problem with the HH ??? regards Baz PS ... this is the point were the knobs in West Oz can now insert even more useful comments .... makes you proud to be Australian eh boys!
