| If I ever buy a rebreather to put on a shelf, I will remember the 7 year part! I bought a new Inspiration 3 years ago. I have never had a cell warning, I replaced all the cells when about 2 year old I had water ingress into one handset which caused corrosion of the microswitch-SDS replaced the switch. I guess it is really important to always have the handsets upright to keep moisture from traveling down the rubber hose along the wires. Never had a cracked handset, never had the handset magnets corrode or stick....and I only dive salt water and I am not a maintenance freak. I have had small issues like inflator discs on the counterlung coming loose and needing tightening. Those o-rings tend to fall out and get lost if you store it with the inflators disconnected to dry out the counterlungs. I had the BC drain plug cap come off DURING a dive even though I never had touched it.....finished my dive no problems. Misc tiny trickle leaks sometimes with factory mouthpiece.....switched to Howell DSV/OC. Combination OC/DSV's are the ticket. My unit has been very stable, very reliable, and very low maintence. I am really happy with it. Now if only it weight 20lbs less....I did find out that when diving with a slippery exterior wetsuit when I dove tropical that you do need to use the crotch strap. I just received and mounted the new Vision electronics/scrubber upgrade.....what an awesome piece of "kit" as you UK types call it. |

| My Inspi is from 2003. about 200 dives. - Chipped edge of plastic thread off diluent and O2 base plate that the valve screws on to- - corroded wires in Molex. One i had to change. Next is due soon.. - rusted solenoid. replaced it. (allthrough i know now you may clean it in a sonic-bath) - a bad batch of 5 O2 sensors, witch APD didnt want to replace... - leaking dil fini hose connection. no deal. - freeflow of AutoAir at the very beginning. after adjusting ist fine since then. Im actually happy with my yellow box. Never had mechanical problems (appart the solenoid). Just the eletronics is simply too sensible to huminity in my opinion. cheers Toni, Germany |

| Custom Title Allowed! Current Rebreather/s: | All the broken/failing parts on my unit... After nearly 3 years of reliable use my Inspiration electronics is heading back to AP for some maintenance, the L/H handset has been acting a bit 'off' giving me a 'low battery' and 'no dive' alarms even with a new battery. Despite checking the usual suspects; Magnets, Battery contacts I still had the problem so on closer inspection I found a small amount of water inside the handset, I stripped it apart and dryed it out slowly over a few days but the fault still persists so I suspect the water has caused some damage. AP will require the head for 2 weeks and this I believe is the 'acid test' because equipment does fail but the backup/service and cost's determine how good a company and it's products really are!! I have had dealings with AP since I bought the Inspiration and have always found them very profesional and accommadating and I am sure it will be the case on this occasion!! No Head for 2 weeks!!! Cheers |

It's a tough call, but at least worst case I can use the wife twin set while my head is with AP. Call it a benefit in kind, although probably not the best reason to get married. O/C for 3 weeks, I won't sleep a bloody wink tonight!!! Cheers |
