| I have spent two weeks rebuilding the box, changed to a back plate with a harness - All good - until last night. I needed to change cell 2 and as I removed the cell the wires that conect to the small plastic connection eroded and came away. I have a Recreational trip planned for Saturday, My Options seem to be Dive OC or it looks feasible to resolder the wires back into the connection ( or is this a non starter) If this is not reasonable without sending the head back, what are my options, In ignorance and Thanks for the anticipated replies Paul |

| Re: Broken a bit ! All depends on how much you trust your handy work, I have done it for others but it's totally at there own risk if they dive it and I recommended they keep an eye on it and monitor there unit scrutinisingly, no liability is given. If you trust you can do it go for it, if not send it in. |

| Re: Broken a bit ! Paul, You can solder it back on if you're carefull, but it's a bit of a bodge, if you can get a new pin for the molex and a crimp tool by the weekend that's the best way (I paid about £25 for my crimp tool including next day delivery). I think it was jradomski on here who had the part No for a resonably priced crimp tool, and I got the connectors from oxycheq. HTH Simon A ===edit=== Aha found it in my PM's the crimper is made by sargent tools Part # htr 2262a Last edited by Simon A : 27th June 2007 at 22:12. |

| Re: Broken a bit ! I don't dive an Inspo but have done a repair like this (on the RBW red sea trip), I had spare molex bits (available from RS Components amongst others) and we crimped some new pins onto the leads with fine pliers, put them into the plastic connector, and worked fine for at least the rest of the trip. As a temporary bodge you could solder some fine wire direct to the cell pins, install the cell, then solder the new bits of wire to the old cables. Cover the joins with heat-shrink sleeving or insulation tape after so they can't short together. Doing it like this prevents straining/twisting parts whilst screwing the cell into place (I'd still tape the temporary cables to the cell to avoid strain on the cell pins) Neil

| Re: Broken a bit ! Hiya, Go to a local electronics shop and ask for some Molex connectors. You may want to take the busted one with you as not all staff are familar with them. At worst they may not have a gold connector but for an emergency one of the standard non gold ones will do until you return. Once one of the connectors has broken then one of the others will follow suit, so recrimp all of them. If you dive a Classic with Molex then developing the skills to recrimp is essential as it's only a matter of time before you get the dreaded warning on boot up. Spare Molex and approproiate tools need to be a part of your kit if you want to save a trip. Hope things work out for you.
