| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Inspo in the Tropics Hi All, I'm packing my Inspo/Vision and heading off for my first CCR adventure in the tropics. I've heard all sorts of things about "keeping the head dry" and wondered if anyone had any tips for doing mutliple dives with the Inspo on a liveaboard in the tropics. Thanks, Damien |

| Re: Inspo in the Tropics I'd talk to Bazza. He'd be the man to talk to with experience on inspos, especially since he is off diving over there often. From a multiple cave dives perspective, nothing much you can do except open, dry as best you can, close, pressure test and go diving.

I've heard all sorts of things about "keeping the head dry" and wondered if anyone had any tips for doing mutliple dives with the Inspo on a liveaboard in the tropics. Thanks, Damien My protocal with inspiration multi dive days tropics on a liveaboard was; Prior to a dive. -Stand unit up vertically -Unscrew inhale hose from scrubber lid. Give hose a good waggle to remove large dropplets of water, refit hose. - disconnect scrubber lid from scrubber remove scrubber cannister (leave lid in place) - If your comfortable leaving your unit stripped to dry naturaly (I never did on dive boats) do so, Or, I preffered: -Use tissue to dab away as much condensation as possible from inside lid - gently touch the corner of a piece of tissue on each sensor face (vaccums up any water instantly) After drying; - Refit scrubber cannister. Suck vaccum - neg check. Whilst still -ve flush with O2, repeat O2 flush then verify sensors/cal is still correct. Gear up and jump in!

| Re: Inspo in the Tropics Mike, I know this is an Inspi forum, but since you have dived with a lot of Meg divers... Could you tell me what you have seen other Meg divers do on similar South China Sea trip (since, as you know, I will be there in 1 week) ? Thanks

Thanks Same basically The sensors get just as wet and require drying out. Most of the tossers I dive with on liveaboards (that use Megs) apear to just unfasten the lid and leave it in the can only a bit 'cocked over' (for want of a technical term) to let it dry naturally between dives,. Only seen one use the tissue paper. Some take the head right off and let it roll around the table in the sun tempting fate that it will fall off while their orange little mosituire pads are blowing in the wind drying and threatening to fly away ![]() Dont worry Ive arranged a special little 'sensor dryer' for you. She/he doesnt look like much but boy can she blow ![]() PS can you bring the radial?

| Re: Inspo in the Tropics I have never bothered to do anything (other than on my training course), except sometimes disconnect the loop from the top of the tees, and let the hoses flap in the breeze. Fine as long as it's not raining Never had a problem yet with wet cells etc. with many dives in South China Sea and Sunda Straits. Maybe I just don't drool and slobber as much as others? |

| Re: Inspo in the Tropics End of day's diving, crack the head open and let it air dry. In about 1-2hrs it will be bone dry if you have time left on sorb put back together for next day or refill lime and reasemble for next day. On multiday diving (liverboards etc) i leave the loop/inflaters all attached till the end of the week and just air dry head at the end of each day and refill sorb when necersery. I will strip it and clean it when i get back home, if it all seals well and is working i just leave it and dont mess to much. ATB Gareth |

| Re: Inspo in the Tropics OK, so nothing difference than what I would be doing - just don't want to miss any trick. One other trick- fit a certain little known cal plug to the head and let ultra dry -60 deg dew point left over air or other gas from a nearly empty cylinder flow thru the sensor chamber and dry things out. At one lpm X half an hour would only use about 1 cf of gas. Truth in advertising: Works on the bench but haven't had opportunity to take tropical trip to test there. Someday! ![]() Ken
