| Classic handset routing? Hi, Just recently passed MOD1 - the handsets seemed to "dangle" and get in the way.... Anyone got any ideas or photos to show possible routings/locations for clipping the things off??....I tend to use the right hand one as the master.... Cheers Roy |

| Re: Classic handset routing? How tidy was your instructor's set-up ? Could you have tried to use his set-up to begin with, then change to suit your needs as experience grows ?

| Re: Classic handset routing? The classic handset DO dangle that's why later models (not just AP Diving CCR's) have drifted towards wrist mounted displays. As Phi said, take a look at you instructor's setup but the key thing is to stop the 2 handsets swinging about. On the surface ALWAYS clip the 2 handsets together, use the carrying handle as a fixing pioint. Underwater either get used to keeping the handsets in your hand or try clipping the handsets to your chest and use an elastic of some sort (camera users tend to use a spiral elastic) so when you have finished extending the elastic as you check your handsets as you let go it goes back to your chest. It is always scary to see handsets dragging on the bottom as the diver moves though the water but many pay later when AP Diving charges them big money to replace cracked handests. Hope that helps a little. F Last edited by CCR900 : 7th May 2007 at 12:01. |

| Re: Classic handset routing? Hi there, Just bought my Classic a few months ago and here is how I run my handsets...for now anyway. I run them over my shoulders and on the "outside" of the CL's and I strap them together with SPG in the velcro. I clip the handsets together. On the "inside" of the CL's I run the hoses for the manuel dil and O2. This way when I check my handsets I'm looking at both master and slave and both SPG's. Cheers Soren |

| Re: Classic handset routing? Instructor used a Boris.....otherwise I would have done exactly that. There is the proof of the argument that instructor should be using the same unit as student... ![]() ![]()

| Re: Classic handset routing? There are so many different ways, one thing I have tried is crossing the handsets inside the case which raises the handsets a good couple inches. I have seen others place the loop made from the clipping the 2 handsets together on the first stage of a bailout bottle, so that they can see one without touching it. There are many options but most importantly find a set-up that you are comfortable with and makes it easy for you to check them as thats the most important part (looking good is a close second of course )But like others have said if you know anyone who has been diving them for a while pick their brain.
