| Re: Evo I’d like to buy an Evolution Rebreather. What stuff do I need? E.g. ADV, ... It’s down to preference or what you are used to. Personally I’ve never liked the ADV & although it’s installed I rarely use it. I was trained to use manual inflator & get on with it fine, most others I dive with use an ADV however. Temp stick is desirable if you want to get more use out of the Softnolime you use than the recommended two-hour scrubber time. Its certainly worth the extra charge. If you can, get the unit with DECO software if this is the type of diving you intend to do. Tri-mix should wait unless you already have a valid CCR Mod 3 ticket. Unless you specifically want an Evo, you may want to consider a vision inspiration, the cost difference is negligible & you have a litre extra gas, O2 & scrubber. |

| Re: Evo Unless you specifically want an Evo, you may want to consider a vision inspiration, the cost difference is negligible & you have a litre extra gas, O2 & scrubber. If you can try both units. I sometimes dive a classic but mostly dive a fully loaded Evo. I personally notice a big comfort difference on long deco dives. My Evo is much lighter (I think 22 lbs or so). It has less drag and really feels closer to an alum 80 in a recreational set up than a set of doubles. In essence my Evo is more comfortable then the classic. The down side. I'm 6' tall so I have to scrunch down a little when first getting into my Evo. Not a real problem. As for onboard gas, I don't worry much about the small diffence in onboard gas. (13 cu/2L vs. 19 cu/3L). I carry suffieicnt bailout and in your ccr trimix class you will get use to plugging in your off board dil and 02 and flying manually. If you need to do dil flushes at depth you should already be carrying extra bailout bottom mix and you should be proficient at connecting your off board bottom mix rather quickly. The one thing I would change on my Evo is the scrubber size. I would like the option of being able to use either the Inspo or Evo scrubber. This really only effects those very deep cold water long duration dives. Its nice to know you have a bit more scrubber time for those on the edge 100+ meter dives. |
