Lets see what it does next dive when it'll be a bit deeper than 25 meters. Cheers, Paul |

They even replaced a plastic loop that had snapped on one of the handset straps! No clues from AP as to why it happened though - I was told it was just a faulty display screen. Dennis |

I understand that there was a component issue in some early units, and therefore the repair should be permanent as that component is replaced. Full marks to AP.

I do wish that the Classic handsets were unpluggable but I can live without that. |

| RBW Writer ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Bizarre Vision problem There are some who feel strongly that the bugs reported in software and hardware on the Vision units are unacceptable. I'm not one of them. With 2 of the earliest Evolutions in the family Clare & I have had 3 hardware and one software glitch (over a lot of hours diving). The hardware glitches were a burn spot on the screen - fading HUD LED's and the latest pixel problems. All these have been repaired speedily and under warranty by AP. The software glitch was the confusing MISSED DECO saga which was fixed by a routine software upgrade - oh and I press the left hand button down for a good 2 seconds rather than brushing it. None of these snags were at all risky - even the missed deco error only resulted in extra safety. I do not expect my unit to be perfect all the time - in fact I regularly practice it breaking. However, my overriding feeling after 2 1/2 years diving the Evolution is one of trust based on experience. I also much prefer the display, realtime deco and temp stick of the vision over the classic. Didn't mean to rant - but these are great pieces of kit. I dont know what's causing these Evo problems but it makes me think that I'm glad I didnt lash out on the Evo upgrade as my Classic unit and Classic + HammerHead seem to be more or less trouble free. | Totally Submerged Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Bizarre Vision problem Hi, Anyone is getting any logical reasons from APD regarding the display problems? I'm interested to know whether the problem is happening with a certain software version or if this is a common problem in the machine itself. I got my Vision electronics about 3 months ago and this issue has started to worry me a bit. If someone knows something then please share with us. Best Regards. Wael |

As your's is only 3 months old you shouldn't have a problem. Hi, Anyone is getting any logical reasons from APD regarding the display problems? Wael Wael, In my non-experienced opinion I would say that if it worries you...then visualize it happening during the dive and then visualize how you would handle the situation. Whether is relying on the HUD or bailing, etc.. From what I can tell this issue occurs when the electronics are first powered up so it shouldn't be too worrysome. J |

| Re: Bizarre Vision problem From what I can tell this issue occurs when the electronics are first powered up so it shouldn't be too worrysome. From my first-hand experience, it may start when the electronics are powered up, but it will get worse (rapidly) over a short period of time. At first, it was just one row of pixels, but by the end, the screen was totally fubar'd to the point of essentially being unreadable, although having a lot of hours means that certain things can be inferred, even with missing pixels. ![]() On the other hand, it is just a display issue. The HUD and setpoint controllers actually continue to function fine, and it's possible to manipulate the setpoint, even, using the handset, or shut down the system entirely if you so wish. Here's to hoping mine gets fixed as a warranty repair ![]() |
