| Vision not well Dived a week last Sunday in quarry. No probs. Stripped gear and put away. Couple of days later my wife says that my first love is making a noise. Went to shed and could here a very faint humming from the alarm. Unit is turned off. The only way to stop it was to take batteries out. Replaced batteries. Same low piched alarm and unit would not switch on. Handset would flicker when batteries make first contact but that's it. I had the unit last August and it's been fine. Haven't done much diving as I'd like. I'm still practising and I'm up to about 27 hrs. I'm sure i read a thread on here about visions shipped out at that time being fine until they reach 20 odd hours. Could i have one of these bad batch ones? Cheers guys ![]()

| Re: Vision not well I had a similar thing quite recently, I think the problem is linked to the start up/ shut down procedure i.e. not holding the button down long enough. I could hear a very faint noise coming from the buzzer but the handset was off. When I tried to switch it on, the buzzer repeatedly sounded and I had to remove the batteries. In the end I shorted the terminals in the battery compartment to reset everything, replaced the batteries and then started her up with a good long 3 second hold the the start button. Since then whenever switching on/off I have held the button down firmly for a count of 3 and made sure the the display is off properly etc. From what I understand this situation has been addressed by the new firmware upgrade particularly in relation the 'missed deco' warning which seems to occur when not switching on/off correctly. Hope you manage to sort it out! |

Hope you manage to sort it out! Although your advice is good, I don't think that is the problem. This sounds nearly exactly like the issue I had with mine. I would call SD (or AP) and tell them about your problem. If you insert the battery while holding the left button, does the unit boot up normally? If so, I think you will need to send it in. Aloha, Charlie

| Re: Vision not well I had this problem to start with...shorted out battery terminals but to no avail..progressed from there to the missed deco situation etc and complete failure. I could always hear a feint hmm from the buzzer when the system was supposed to be shut down! In the end the unit had to go back to AP, replaced the whole computer and quite a few other components...They never really told me what the problem was. Suffice to say, it came back a couple weeks later..Havent tried it yet in the water but its working ok on start up now Personally, I think it an AP job for your head ![]() |

| Re: Vision not well I also had the exact same problem with mind and finaly sent it to AP to be fixed. They said tha it was a diode in the head and that they had to replace the whole thing! I also had the "hot spot" on the hand set and they replaced it as well. All of this was done quickly and free of charge I would recommend you get a hold of Nicky at APRob |
