| Inspo Scrubber in a Evolution Frame Hi All: My goal is to get the benefit of an extra hour+ scrubber time using the Inspo scrubber canister. Anyone using an Vision Inspo scrubber canister with temp stick in an Evolution frame or another frame. I have a few questions and would appreciate any feedback. 1. Are the electronics/head compatible. That is, can I match my Evo Vision head and temp stick to a new Vision Inspo scrubber canister. Anyone have a Vision Inspo scrubber canister with temp stick for sale? 2. It doesn't seem likely that the standard Inspo scrubber will fit in the Evo frame. True? Any one selling a frame/harness and CL from a newer Inspo. 3. One option maybe an aftermarket travel frame. Recommendations? A different travel frame or an Inspo frame would also give me the option of using 19s onboard on my deeper dives. Basically, I would like the best of both worlds. Smaller lighter unit for travel and dives up to 2-3 hours and the option for more scrubber time and onboard gas for 3+ hour dives. Thanks fellow ccr addicts. |

| Re: Inspo Scrubber in a Evolution Frame No it will not fit...it's kind of lame that the inspo scrubber doesn't fit into the evo case. It could have with a modest design change. I suspect it was a marketing choice rather than a functional one. I don't think you'll have a problem with the smaller rig. The 13's are fine for deep dives, if you are bailing out at anything at mix depth you'll want your bailout bottle not the on-board no matter what. You'll find that you really don't use even half the cylinders on deep dives. Actually both scrubbers are "one deep dive and replace the scrubber". I have often done two deep dives on one evo fill but it's not really smart and I have stopped doing this. The bigger challenge is when you are doing a couple of long shallow dives; the temptation is always to use the sorb again and it's usually fine just understand the limits. The temp stick is a good guide but even with shallow dives you'll find you may try pushing a little. I have had good results with two 2 hour dives but just watch-out. The temp stick shows reasonable scrubber life and it's usually fine if you are shallow but be careful if you are in challenging conditions such as high current, where you could breath through the scrubber towards the 3-4 hour mark. The gas in the 13's is usually enough for these dives too but your mileage may vary. Some of it is simply experience but you'll find the 20's are not necessary at all. Sometimes they might give you a little extra room to be sloppy but almost everyone will fill their bottles and sorb after a real deep dive no matter what they are diving. On shallow dives it might take a little extra diligence to make the gas work out with reserves but you can always plug in the off-board. If you are planning deep ultra long, 4 hours plus, you'll probably want a meg with a cis canister or another rig with a huge scrubber. However if you want to travel with your rig the evo is a pretty good way to go. Doug

| Re: Inspo Scrubber in a Evolution Frame Its exactly the same head so no problems there. Lots of good frames about. Kent tooling does a lighter version of their flat pack design (5kg) which is very easy to live with. Michiel Hurn does the expensive and stylish Ali Box (5kg) which is a bit harder to live with but looks fantastic. Then there is the Decoweeny Travel fraim 2.5Kg which is a dreem to dive very easy to work with but obviously designed for lightnes so needs TLC rather than bashing about. ALL of them are better than the standard yellow box in terms of equipmnet placing, drag in the water, weighting and trim. I have dived them all and i personaly own a Ali Box and a Travel frame. I didnt go for the KT frame origionaly because it was too heavy at 7KG but the new lighter version is well worth considering. ATB Mark Chase

| Re: Inspo Scrubber in a Evolution Frame I checked with SDS and confimed that the Inspo scrubber canister is about 2 inches to long to fit in the Evo. To bad the system isn't a little more modular. I guess this was a marketing decision. I would like to have the option of using both canisters. The cost of a new Inspo case is pretty outrageous so maybe a travel or aftermarket frame is the only way to go if I want the option of different canisters and different onboard tanks. | New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Inspo Scrubber in a Evolution Frame I don't know if the cost of the new inspiration canister to fit the current evolution is worth the extra hour dive time? So far I understood it's expensive and I am not sure you can buy it separately from AP. Using the alibox with inspiration cylinders may be an better option. Erik |

Looks like that is a classic scrubber canister and electronics you have. I'm running the Vision electronics and will want to match my head to the newer style canister. maybe they are still the same size. only one way to find out. I'll look into the Alibox!! |
