| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Vision recommendation/upgrade idea. Was thinking about the vision startup on my evo and it got me thinking. i think it would be very smart of them to add additional checks on the computer at startup. i for one do not have a paper checkoff list when I dive my evo, and I doubt many others do as well. What I recommend is that the startup sequence goes like this at power on.. BEFORE it goes to OPEN o2 Valve it should say "SCRUBBER PACKED?" then OPEN O2 VALVE then OPEN DILUENT Valve then CHECK BAILOUT Can anyone really explain why it says open o2 but check diluent? it makes no sense really. If your gonna open the o2, then it only reasons your need to open the diluent as well. not just check it. The only thing I thought was maybe the font they use on the display is too big and they cant fit "open Diluent valve". If thats the case, why not abbreviate it to say "Open DIL valve". These changes would take up minimal time to reprogram into the software and I think it would be a huge benefit to divers. I see in the next release they are putting volt meters readings into the computer, so they obviously want you to keep up on your battery life, but that is a huge programming change compared to what Im suggesting. What do you others think?

If your gonna open the o2, then it only reasons your need to open the diluent as well. not just check it. Two very common scenarios that don't require me to turn on my dil that I've used:
It also reasons that I would "check diluent" on the unit, too, if I use the onboard diluent cylinders to verify what exactly I've loaded in to my dil cylinder as breathing gas (or non-breathing gas if it's hypoxic...) and confirm that it's lined up with what my computer and my VR3 think that I'm using for dil. | Re: Vision recommendation/upgrade idea. BEFORE it goes to OPEN o2 Valve it should say "SCRUBBER PACKED?" If you have been careless enough to not pack your scrubber before your final "turn on" and calibration, there are other major problems. Besides, I would hope that you would notice on your pre-breathe. My feeling is that some units have way too many checklists upon startup, and that rebreather divers should have a routine. Even checklists can become a matter of pushing buttons without really thinking if a diver is lazy. If you need a list, I recommend printing one up on wet-notes and taping it to the inside of your shell. then OPEN O2 VALVE then OPEN DILUENT Valve then CHECK BAILOUT What do you others think? The only reason I can think of that it says "check diluent" instead of "Open Diluent" is that you also want to check your ADV, bailout, and manual button (I do realize that the O2 side also has a manual button, but that's the only reason I can think of for the difference).
