| New instructional DVD available for the Inspiration Rifat Guerboy, a technical diving instructor based in Egypt, has together with his C-19 team spent lots of time to compile the (as far as I know) first instructional DVD specifically targeted at the Inspiration. It is a very non-nonsense, structured DVD that can act both as instruction material during a Turtle course as well as a "take-it-home-with-you-for-review" video for new students (or even refresher for old farts). Although the DVD primary focusses on the Classic, some references to the Vision are made as well, and for the basic skills it really doesn't matter that much. The target audience is new Inspiration divers, i.e. not MOD2 or MOD3 CCR students. It contains 4 sections: - assembly & disassembly; - pre-dive procedures; - basic diving skills; - post-dive cleaning & storage. As a bonus it also contains some nice Turtle wreckdiving footage (by the looks of it the Thistlegorm...?). The video is quality is very high (and I really envy that visibility... if only we had 1/5 of that in Holland....). It is multi-lingual, supporting text & speech in English, German, French & Dutch. Rifat sent me a copy for review, and I quite liked it. It does not replace a course, nor does it intend to do so. However, to complement a course, and to have skills available for lookup at home for students in "demo quality" is definitely an advantage. The DVD is available on the internet on the website www.c-19.net. Costs: GBP 25 or EU 40. There is a discount for instructors, as well as volume discounts. Contact info@c-19.net for further info if you're interested! And for the record: I am not associated with C-19 in any way. I do not sell the DVD myself. This is not a commercial "promo". Rifat asked me to look at it & review it, I did, and I liked it. 'Nough said. Ciao, Tino. Last edited by Decodiver : 8th March 2007 at 13:54. Reason: Formatted weblink |

| Re: New instructional DVD available for the Inspiration It must be good if you are impressed, Tino. So I bought one to see if I could learn anything new... ![]() Now we need one for each of the popular units (Meg, Oubororis, etc). BTW, whatever happened to the vol. 2 of the (forgot the name at the moment ) DVD that showing different units - made in NE US.

Spot on there Phi,![]() Now we need one for each of the popular units (Meg, Oubororis, etc). BTW, whatever happened to the vol. 2 of the (forgot the name at the moment ) DVD that showing different units - made in NE US.Rifat is a close friend of mine and former student, I taught his Inspiration Mod 1 and Trimix courses. He visited me a few weeks back and I got a look at the Beta version of the DVD and was impressed. At that time I offered him access to my Ouroboros, rEvoII and Megalodon to film further instructional DVDs. Cheers, Dave Cooper.

| Re: New instructional DVD available for the Inspiration Well.... if YOU can still learn something from it, I will eat my hat in public... One thing striked me as interesting: Rifat still promotes the old way of sofnolime tapping (fill 1/3, tap, file the rest, tap, put spiderplate on, tap again). Martin promotes the "tap only once lightly" approach these days. So there is still room for personal preference, eh...? Rifat made this DVD way before Martin sent out his preferred method. however, also Rifat warns not to tap too much, and to check if you did not over-fill or over-pack. So in the end there will not be much operational difference, I think. I like the attention to detail in the DVD. some skills I would do a bit different, but again that's personal preference or left-overs from picking it up from your instructor at the time (in ly case 10 years ago..). I see it primarily as an interactive tool to discuss some items with your students while watching the DVD. You don't have to copy all drills in the blind: closed circuit diving is for open minds...! As this is not DIR, there luckily are "multiple ways to Rome" to solve certain issues, and that's what I like. Ciao, Tino. It must be good if you are impressed, Tino. So I bought one to see if I could learn anything new... ![]() Now we need one for each of the popular units (Meg, Oubororis, etc). | Re: New instructional DVD available for the Inspiration Well.... if YOU can still learn something from it, I will eat my hat in public... Well... I hope you are hungry... ![]() Honestly, I love watching someone else teaching a class, any level. It is amazing the small little gems that you could pick up, especially if you have been doing the same. I find that everyone has their own interesting way to explain a procedure, and some techniques work better with/for certain individuals. So the more ways one learns, the better "communicator" one becomes. Plus, if one keeps doing a certain procedure only 1 way for a long time, it became an engram (i.e. muscle-memory) that one tends to tune out possibilities of improvement. But by watching a different approach will open one's mind. Lastly, I also learn from the students. I think someone already mentioned this. Each student will react differently, and if you pay close attention, you should be able to use them as feed-back to fine-tune your techniques. So... Bon appetit! ![]()

| Re: New instructional DVD available for the Inspiration Just finished looking this DVD over and it seems exceedingly well done... a great refresher for a novice like me. Ordering my own copy "as we speak." And would like to confirm that the DVD is round but about long enough to leave a satisfied impression.
