![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New instructional DVD available for the Inspiration I'll enjoy the meal... - and for the rest fully agree with you. You always learn from others. E.g.: this DVD showed me an alternative way of doing semi-closed mode I never saw before. I don't know if I like it, but I will for sure at least try it. "You can only discard things you have tried yourself: don't base decisions on other one's opinion's but only on own experience". someone must have said that. If not, it was me..... ciao, tino. Well... I hope you are hungry... ![]() Honestly, I love watching someone else teaching a class, any level. It is amazing the small little gems that you could pick up, especially if you have been doing the same. I find that everyone has their own interesting way to explain a procedure, and some techniques work better with/for certain individuals. So the more ways one learns, the better "communicator" one becomes. Plus, if one keeps doing a certain procedure only 1 way for a long time, it became an engram (i.e. muscle-memory) that one tends to tune out possibilities of improvement. But by watching a different approach will open one's mind. Lastly, I also learn from the students. I think someone already mentioned this. Each student will react differently, and if you pay close attention, you should be able to use them as feed-back to fine-tune your techniques. So... Bon appetit! ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New instructional DVD available for the Inspiration I think both Tino and Phi make valid points. There are numerous ways of teaching skills, just as there are numerous ways of configuring kit, what works for some may not for others, however, the important is to keep an open mind, we all should learn that way. When Rifat initially showed me the video, we discussed the SCR technique, as it was not something I had taught him, he explained that he learnt it while doing his Mod 1 Instructor course and we discussed its merits, I see no drawback from this method, and like the scrubber packing, what works, works. I have never had problems with packing a scrubber tightly and have always taught that method. I will point students to watch the APD scrubber video, but on my courses I will expect them to use the method I teach them, what they choose to do after the course is a matter for them. Please let's not hijack this thread into a discussion of the pros and cons of the scrubber packing video. Even though I just have....... Cheers, Dave Cooper.

![]() | Re: New instructional DVD available for the Inspiration For those who still need convincing I have seen the DVD (in post production) and would like to add that it is top quality and would be a real aid for any Inspiration/Evolution diver or instructor. As Tino said it is broken down into the main sections, and then each skill can be selected individually with or without the commentary (great for instructors that want to do their own explanation). The footage is very clear as to exactly what is happening with each skill, and the most complicated skills are further broken down into key stages. I would also like to add that I have been taught (OC, as I dive a Meg) by Rifat and have dived with him many, many times in Egypt. He is an extremely professional, thorough and well informed instructor. Congratulations C-19 and put my name down for a Meg version. Jo |

Postmark shown the DVD was sent on same day from UK and arrived today on March 11 to UAE. Quick review of the DVD shown that it is of excellent quality and very clear consise instructions . I am very impressed... ![]() I do wish that every single CCR manufacturer would spend the time/energy to create such a useful instructional DVD for the buyer. Just bundle the price into the unit package. Jetsam started something similar with the latest color manual of the Sport-KISS showing step-by-step instructions of assembling techniques. Training agencies should also follow suit. IANTD did create a version for general Rebreather knowledge which complements this DVD excellently. I think all Inspiration instructors should recommend this to their students...

![]() | Re: New instructional DVD available for the Inspiration I also have received the DVD extremely fast, as a registered letter. The presentation and the quality are really very good. Even the German translation is exellent what is rather rare with such products, but helpful for non native speakers like me. The only small criticism point I have, is the fact that the Vision Units are mentioned rather at the edge and the authors concentration on the "old" Classic Units. Because the video is a brand-new Produkt, I would have wished a little bit more actuality in this point. But this is only my inessential personal "Vision minded" opinion. And I would not like to be misunderstood here, I am glad that there is an professional video like this and I can recommend it without restrictions. From my point of view the DVD is worth every cent it costs. |

| NA ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: New instructional DVD available for the Inspiration This video is exactly what I wanted and hoped it would be. The quality and camera work is right on the money. Close ups when needed and very well planned out. Several CCR questions I had where answered just by watching this video.. To the other non-rebreather divers out there interested: 1)Understand the fundamentals of how rebreathers work. 2)Download/read the Insp/Evolution manual, maybe even the TDI manual as well. 3)Do your homework using this site and its library/gallery, 4)Watch this DVD The DVD assumes you have been trained on these units so unless you atleast do steps 1 through 3 you'll be lost. They dont go into how rebreathers work or any of that...they just go into the maintenance, pre-dive setup, skills, and post dive maintenance/storage of the Inspiration/Evolution. This DVD allowed me to actually see the steps/drills I have been reading about and for that...well worth the money!!! Jason |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New instructional DVD available for the Inspiration In that light I must really also point at the quite new, but IMHO brilliant new BSAC manual for the Inspo & Evo. Never seen such an extensive manual, with so many clear photo's and schematics. 134 pages ful-colour. And I'm saying that as a non-BSAC member & IANTD instructor..! For the Americans: BSAC = British Sub Aqua Club, UK's biggest diving organisation (I assume; never undestimate PADI.....). Ciao, Tino. 2)Download/read the Insp/Evolution manual, maybe even the TDI manual as well.Jason |
