| 4th cell holder Hi all I have got my order in for a new Vision, and was thinking, after reading what Dave Sutton has to say about the 4th cell option, that it would be a good idea to get one. My question is though, would fitting one invalidate any warranty from AP. Regards J.L.

| Re: 4th cell holder John, I have a 4th cell connected to the Vision lid almost since day 1, and AFAIK, it doesn't invalidate the AP warranty.

Installing a 4th cell would require a modification like narked at 90's 4th cell holder which replaces APD's cell holder. No matter how nice of a machined piece of equipment it very well may be...it's still not APD crafted and I can't see why APD would accept this as being ok...it is a modification to a crucial part of the rebreather...and to me it should void the warranty... However, weenie has probably sent his back to APD for service and hasnt had a problem. Personally APD should just offer a 4th cell holder as an option. again...just my ignant opinion |

| Re: 4th cell holder Let me inject some of my ignorance into this thread... The option you listed isn't the only way to add a 4th cell.As a matter of fact, it is the most recent way. There are other ways used for years that you don't need to replace any components made by AP.

| Re: 4th cell holder I have used both Y-adapter or hose-adapter on number of units.

| Re: 4th cell holder Let me inject some of my ignorance into this thread... Not sure why it should invalidate the warranty - just remove it and reinstate the APD one when returning the unit for service or warranty repair. Or am I missing something?Installing a 4th cell would require a modification like narked at 90's 4th cell holder which replaces APD's cell holder. Personally APD should just offer a 4th cell holder as an option. again...just my ignant opinion I've got a Narked@90 adaptor, but haven't installed it yet. Cheers,

| Re: 4th cell holder Personally APD should just offer a 4th cell holder as an option. Now wouldn't that be nice. Unfortunately it would require that they admit there might be a value in a totally isolated back up po2 computer, which goes against the premise of the one screened vision. Since there are some common failure points with the two controllers and one screen, I think it's time that they simply embrace the idea of offering a fourth cell modification. While I believe the vision system is a great balance between redundancy (dual conctrollers/HUD/two battereis) and simplicity (one screen for primary monitoring) and therefor has broad appeal there are those folks out there (myself for one) who will want a fourth cell and independent po2/deco computer to round it out. One simple fact clinches this one for me, the vision can't do a cold hand off from B1 to B2, it lacks provisions for rapid voltage drop/poor battery performance or B1 contact failure. It's still my favorite, but I am convinced of the merits of a totally separate back up. So, can anyone put up some photos and links to the common 4th cell configurations?
