Sidemount on an Inspo

Anyone put either an ArmadilloCCR sidemount or a Dive Rite Nomad sidemount on an Inspiration with a backplate? The bottom of the box is a few inches lower than the bottom of my backplate and I'm wondering if that makes attaching/detaching the cylinders more of a problem or if they attach low enough that its not a problem.

Re: Sidemount on an Inspo

I added an Armadillo mount direct to my inspo, I have yet to convert to a BP (looking at travel frames first). I did mount mine a bit high so I understand your concern. For the most part things are fine, as long as the "Ü" mounts are completely clear you should be ok. I have found many uses for those U mounts even when I'm not slinging tanks. I put my extra lights, reels, SMB, camera stuff, its great for when I'm not in drysuit with my extra pockets.

Re: Sidemount on an Inspo

I used some steel links to lower the armadillo.

Without links

The 'door handles' catch the back of the box

So a couple of links lower the butt plate.

Re: Sidemount on an Inspo

Thats exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for posting the pics Simon. Any issues with using the links, such as it moving while trying to connect cylinders?

Rob,

No, I have the same system on my Ouroboros and it works fine.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

Its pretty solid, no problem hooking up. I used 2.5 inch links, anything smaller won't work. I also put D rings on the harness positioned around the bottom of my ribcage and clip the neck of the cylinders to these for support out of the water.

Re: Sidemount on an Inspo

Hi folks.

Is there any option to use it with the original setup?

Any picture will be welcome.

Thanks

Re: Sidemount on an Inspo

Is it pretty easy to connect more than 1 bailout on a side? Im thinking of dives requiring a deep bailout, midlevel gas and O2 for bailout.

I have done 2 x 40 on one side and 1x 80 on the other, taken them all off, swapped them around, all without a mask, and a few other daft things that my instructor thought up. No problems. You don't really notice they are there whilst swimming around.
