It runs butifully in temperatures ubove zero. When exposed to cold the sequence ubove takes place. When taken indoors the process reverses. I would like to know everything anyone of you may know about this....

| Dive porn pimp ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Have anyone ever seen this before??!!? I got mine out, couldnt find the Welsh language option so it must be tom ducked. Water in the handset is most probable, why is the question. Cracked handsets are not that expensive but the replacement computers are £165-ish each. I sent mine in for a £35 service as they were working perfectly. ended up £524-00 Was not happy. I would strongly suggest you check them over and take detailed pictures in respect to cracks. Search the board for similar cases and read them carefully. Have you tried drying out the handsets incase it is moisture that has wicked up into the casings? Water expands when frozen which might be causing it. If it is as bad as mine was, it might be a better option to replace the electronics. If that is the case, give me an email.

| - Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Have anyone ever seen this before??!!? I have seen that before on displays. It is not "cracked handsets", as the back of the display and electronics are potted in gel. There are three possible causes for it, and I think you have number 3: 1. The bus timing is out between the display module and the processor. Usually that causes much worse problems than shown here: the whole display shows rubbish and fancy characters. 2. Flash memory is an amazingly dodgy technology that works. That is, until it gets cold or old, or both. Data can misread. Programs can misread. There are good Flash devices and poor Flash devices. Good processors and poor processors. In this case, this is not the likely cause. APD advised me they added a checksum check for the memory in 2001, but there are some areas not checked. You have single bit errors, or one output from one line, down. If you got that number of single bit errors, the processor would probably not get through its sequence as it does because the program is stored in the same memory. 3. Same problem in the ROM in the display character lookup ROM. The display module ROM has a bad I/O pin. Usually these are ROMs not Flash PROMS, but a line has a weak driver in the ROM. Fixing Needs to replace the module. This is an electronics replacement. Once it starts when cold, it generally gets worse. UKP 165 for replacement handsets is a good price. APD are probably not making a huge margin on that. Alex faulty producing Took my newly purchased (used) classic scrubber out for a spin the other day. I thoght I was going diving....but noooo. | RBW Member Current Rebreather/s: | Yep... Had it on my own Inspo when it was freezing cold => -5 Celcius and down. The display is LCD - Liquid Crystal Display- and when it's getting cold the crystals "freeze's", it's getting slow and don't work properly. ![]() Once I just tested it, NB! Got a Vr3 on 4th cell, after some while in the water, the displays was warmed up and worked properly again. ![]() So when it's cold i Norway, get some golfclub-protectors of neopren, put in a warming pad, those with chemical reaction before diving, that I think will work. | - Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Have anyone ever seen this before??!!? Sorry to disagree, but when cold the LCD itself simply loses its contrast. The effect here is the wrong characters come out of the ROM, as if the wrong characters are looked up. Display contrast is fine. Alex Yep...
