| Anyone else have trouble replacing 02 sensors? Maybe I am just a little uncoordinated, but I am having a very difficult time screwing in the new O2 sensors back into my Inspiration Vision head. I can't seem to get the threads to grab hold, and I am nervous about stripping out the threads on both the head as well as the sensors. Has anyone had a similar problem, and if so, how did you make it work? Regards, Randy

As if anyone is going to be silly enough to admit to this embarrassing mistake I have a 'friend' who cross-threaded one of his cells within *minutes* of getting his brand new Inspiration home. Eventually 'he' just screwed it in as tight and put the head back on. I too hope someone has some advice for my 'friend' ![]()

| Re: Anyone else have trouble replacing 02 sensors? They are bastards to get in, aren't they? ![]() The only tip I have is to make sure the cell face is exactly 90 degrees all round to the face of the hole - and to be firm pushing while twisting. I haven't stripped threads only because the delrin seems tougher than the cell plastic.

I know nothing about O2 cells and Inspo heads, but knowing nothing usually never stops me from having an opinion... When dealing with fine threads the best trick I know is to apply gentle pressure to the part and then keeping it as straight as possible, "unscrew" the part in the hole. When they are lined up properly you should feel (and sometimes hear) the lead thread on the part drop into the threads in the hole. Then start gently screwing the part into the hole. This usually avoids cross threading.

Sadly, that didn't work for me, but I could see evidence that it was damaging the threads on the cell. When dealing with fine threads the best trick I know is to apply gentle pressure to the part and then keeping it as straight as possible, "unscrew" the part in the hole. I have an evo and thought the cells where a plug style cap that you pulled off. have you contacted AP Valves or looked int he manual. It is available on their weebsite. Has anyone had a similar problem, and if so, how did you make it work? Regards, Randy If this is the wrong direction my apologies.

It is available on their weebsite. That's the connection to the controllers. We're talking about screwing them into the holder itself - different problem. If this is the wrong direction my apologies. | Re: Anyone else have trouble replacing 02 sensors? I lack confidence when it comes to anything more complicated than changing sofnolime or batteries but have managed to put in two sets of O2 sensors so far (somehow)! Lining the little sods up straight is essential and then sensing when you've got one not going in straight is the next most important step. Back off and try again before doing any damage to the thread. I find pulling off the blue connector caps quite a struggle I worry I'll break something if I use too much force. Charlie |

| Re: Anyone else have trouble replacing 02 sensors? I find pulling off the blue connector caps quite a struggle They seem to have an interesting separation pressure. I needed to put what felt like quite a lot of force on them to get them moving, then back off before I tore the cable out of the head. I worry I'll break something if I use too much force. Charlie I think we're probably all worrying too much, based on all the posts of doom about the fragility of the heads. The threads on in the head are stronger than those on the cell, so although it'll be annoying to cross thread a cell, it won't mean replacing the tower. A bit of practice and even I think I'll be able to take the coax connectors off without tearing them out of the head ;-) Oh, and following the 3 second on/off rule in the future will stop me thinking I've knackered something after changing a cell. I had to do three reboots before I calmed myself down enough. I was absolutely convinced I'd wrecked something expensive when the head wouldn't boot properly after changing the cell :-( Cheers,
