Re: Help Please

That's not a washer. You need a plastic pick to get the o-ring in the inside out. You could use a dental pick but be very careful not to scratch the inside.

Re: Help Please

If you use dental picks, make sure you have TWO:
  • an original sharp one (for stubborn O-rings that you can only remove by effectively destroying them with a genuine = too sharp pick). O-rings removed with the sharp picj should be considered damaged in the process and need to be thrown away. I only use the sharp one as "last resort" for resisting little bastards.
  • one you have made deliberatley blunt. I clip off a few millimeters from the sharp end with a cutter, and sand-paper (very fine sandpaper!) the resulting (still too sharp) tip to make it smooth and very un-sharp. Test its resulting smoothness with your fingers!
The best way IMHO is:
  • Take out the old O-rings with the above described blunt pick, but still throw them away (they're cheap, so don't try to save 10 cents!).
I use the blunt one to avoid damaging the groove where the O-ring sits in.
  • Put back new fresh ones with the back end of a wooden match or blunt wooden tooth-pick. Suck/spit on the wood a little bit to make it even softer. Put the O-rings in vertically with your bare hands (no tools), then use the tooth-pick to ease one side of the O-ring in its intended slot/groove inside the inflator house. Make sure you don't leave a wooden splinter behind...
  • Once one side of the O-ring is "nailed down" in itrs groove, you apply some pressure on the other side, also with the blunt end of a match or tooth-pick, and it will "magically" plop into its place. Takes some practice, but is in fact quite easy once you've done it a few times.
TIP: Use the old, removed O-rings to practive this a few times to master the procedure without damaging the O-rings. Once you know the trick, do it one final time with the new rings. Done!

ciao,

tino.

Make sure you make
