Classic Inspiration Build Up
By Ian Carruthers

Well my Inspiration was in bits and needed to be put back together after a trip to the Red Sea, where I had been using a custom chassis. This is the build up of my unit detailing what’s what and how it all goes together. I guess it only takes 10-15 minutes to build it up as I have below; although it took me slightly longer than that as I was taking the photos as I went along.

We’ll start with the black case; everything is mounted to this, so it’s a good starting point. Mine as shown here has my flag mounted on the right hand side, spare delayed SMB ‘butt’ mounted and the G-Snap for my drysuit bottle.

Next, we take the hoses set up with manifold, diluent and O2 manual inflate hoses, ADV hose, wing and Auto Air hose, solenoid hose and the feed to each first stage.

This is bolted into the black case.

Then the gauges are fed into the case and the first stages fitted.

Next we take the wing and place it on the black case.

Followed by the lungs

Then the backplate and harness

The lungs are attached to the harness and the unit is ready to set up to dive.

First, we need to attach the cylinders to the black case.

Then we attach the scrubber assembly.

Put the yellow case on the back to keep everything safe and sound.

Then the mouthpiece and we’re ready to start testing the unit prior to diving.

First, the positive pressure check.

Then the negative pressure check.

All we have to now is calibrate and we’re ready to dive.

All of the photos and some more showing various components of the unit are also on the Outlaw Divers website

Cheers
