This is the way my IDA-71 looked before I got a hold of it. I would call it Franken Rocket

You can't see it really clear in the picture but the top has a mixing mechanism that had several Draeger dosage valves. The guy I bought if from said that he dove it to 80m rigged like this.

It seems that the current price you can pick up a good used dolphin now, if your looking to go MCCR conversion, the IDA-71 just does not make sense. Both the dolphin and the 71 need mods for sure, but the dolphin seems like a much better platform, and the dolphin can be set up MCCR, but still look Semi-closed (cert -training $500.00) for getting on boats.

Dolphin counterlung is too small for a CCR, and they are hard to mount bottles to without breaking the shells... IMHO the IDA is still a better conversion platform (I've worked with both).

Well, dont want to go over all the dolphin mods that have been done to take care of the problems you mention (a lot being dove) my point is parts being available, and not hard to get on a boat, easy scrubber fill, traveling, just seems better to me in the end for the money you will have into either unit. I have also worked with both.
