| How to assemble a Swagelok fitting / Soldering Lumberg cable Hi, Just for playing around a bit I tried to repair my old HH HUD. Now I have the problem to reassemble the Swagelok fitting. The bore of cone and the small ring (first and second part of the picture below) is much too small to put the cable through. I have no idea how it was possible to put them over the cable before. Or are this singe use parts – means that I have to replace them because they are changing the form on assembling? If I need to replace them, what are the part numbers and are this also parts from Swagelok? Swagelok.jpg Soldering the Lumberg cable: The single copper wires of Lumberg cable have a “black patina”. Even with a solder that has some flux it is very difficult to solder it correctly. This “black patina” avoids somehow that the solder has a good “connection” to the wires. Is there a special flux or an other technique required to solder lumbergs cable properly? Kind regards DINspiration |

| Custom Title Allowed! Current Rebreather/s: | Re: How to assemble a Swagelok fitting / Soldering Lumberg cable Dave, was this the existing fitting or a new one? I'm surprised the fitting uses the metal cone and sealing ring , I would not have thought this possible with 'plastic' cable (only with the custom swagelock hose end fittings or hoses). For instructions on how to use standard swagelock fittings, download the fitting catalogue, a picture of the order of the front and back ferrule is near page 50 or so. | Re: How to assemble a Swagelok fitting / Soldering Lumberg cable Hi Steven, This is the existing fitting of HH HUD with a Lumberg cable! Thank you for the link to download the catalogue. The order of the ferrules is not the problem. The diameter of the ferrules is so small that I can not put it on the cable again...... Dave, was this the existing fitting or a new one? | Re: How to assemble a Swagelok fitting / Soldering Lumberg cable They are single use parts, and SWAGE as part of the assembly (SWAGE loc..) I personally would replace them with nylon ferrules, available from any Swagelok dealer. The parts available from McMaster-Carr, while not Swagelok brand, interchange. So do Parker-Hannifin parts.
