| Thanks, guys... If I don't respond as quick as I should, its because I'll be a bit preoccupied over the next 6 days... I start training with my new prism Rebreather with four other mates this weekend. So I suppose it will be more photos etc etc... Now to convert the prism Hud to vibrating... hmm... ;-) Cheers, JDZ |

| Wayyyyy Cooool, ...... I hope mine can turn out as nice. The good part is that we who follow have you all who forged ahead to handle the R&D for us, I think homebuilts are a lot like blending stations, "always a work in progress". I was wondering after looking at your pics, is the cabling for the hud and PO2 meter run thru swageloc plastic tubing with the inserts at the ends and regular tubing fittings? ... Does it seem to be durable and tough? Also, are the new box (milled out of a block) and the circuit boards available from the fellow on that website? I'm thinking a second box and a microcontroller would facilitate electronic control at some future point. Anyway, I'm rambling on again .......It is a Very Impressive Project Thanks for posting the write up, you make a tough act to follow. Darlene |

| Have a good time with your course JDZ, Question: what kind of clear material did you use for the HUD housing in your second version? Best Philippe |

Does it seem to be durable and tough? The tubing and swagelok fittings are standard. However, I use a silicon tube cut into short 5mm lengths to act as seals. If you look at http://www.rebreatherworld.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=593&c=34 you will see that I have used the ferule insert into the tube for strength and the smaller end "olive" but I have used the silicon tube instead of the larger olive. I find this connection more to my liking for u/w use. In the earlier HUD, I used solid cable with a silicon sleeve to get the same effect. Even though I know that the unit should be balanced at ambient pressure, I used a softer cable and found that it crushed as I was descending and I was always worried that I would get a bit of moisture past the seal. Anyway, so far so good. Also, are the new box (milled out of a block) and the circuit boards available from the fellow on that website? Yes, they are available from Richard. I'm not sure if he is back... but an email will find that out! I'm thinking a second box and a microcontroller would facilitate electronic control at some future point. Best Philippe The clear material is 16mm perspex rod (when I got it, I found out that it is made in a mould and not extruded rod, hence it is not perfectly round when it goes onto a lathe) however, in short pieces, it turns quite nicely. Trick is keeping the job cool and not allowing the rod to get hot! fwiw.. attached dimensions... Cheers, JDZ |

| Custom Title Allowed! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | I am thinking about the possibility of fitting one the the YBOD, which should work. What I am afraid of is, as this will be the HUD if it's not working correctly you are monitoring your unit from one cell only! Do you have to calibrate each dive, as it will be a pain to remove screws every time!

| Hi Pierre, I check the calibration of the two units in my setup (usually the night before) and during the predive I compare the units again. Usually they are pretty constantly in calibration. I check in air and at ~100%O2 plastic bag and loop. Over a month I have not noticed any unusual drop or variance in readings. I do access the inside for battery changes every month or so and hence may tweak the unit then. Having said that, my ppO2 unit only has 3 small screws... Richard's unit on the other hand I don't know. I'll wait for my buddy's complaints!! Cheers, JDZ |
