electronics for the nitrogen impaired/ open source eccr controller

after the sage of cracked handsets, hammerhead reboots, vr3s going nuts and the shearwater problems. i figured it was time for the home builders who figured that they could do it better cheaper or for just the fact that they could do it, to put up or shut up, and come up with a standard design and features. here are my ideas any input appreciated

primary head
display 4x20 LCD back light 6 oclock view angle
depth (optional)
display all three sensors at all times
large cheap rechargeable batteries, i like to leave the back light on
easy navigation between screens (two buttons , select and confirm)
dive timer started auto at po2 better than 1.1
Sp indicator
heart beat indicator
can't go to cal mode over .40 po2
predive check list
alarm screens that tell you what to do and what to expect(IE dil flush and what your po2 should be)
HUD
eprom saved cal setting in case of reboot
gas switch ability
auto switch set point after seeing 1.2 in the loop( thanks darlene)
no way to turn the unit off when using (plug that batteries in and it starts)
battery life meter
2 point calibration
pid based algorithm for solenoid control
sensor failure alarm in run mode and calibration

hardware requirements primary display
pic with LCD display
4 or 5 analog inputs
3 or 4 digital outputs

op amp for sensors (Max494 suggested)
remote the op-amp for less cross talk( and cheaper cables. i have found that i have no cross talk using unshielded cable if i ignore the sensors during solenoid firing)

solenoid wattmeiser 6 volt .5 watts

batteries 7ea 2/3 a nimh with crouse hinds connectors

HUD 2 or 3 led epoxied into 1/2 inch SS tubing

no electronics except for sensors in the loop/ remember the Apollo fire

secondaries will just be stripped down primary

Genesis, Darlene, and all of the other electronic types out there i appreciate any and all input. what i see for a final design is sort of like the old heath kit for us. i would suggest that we design aroud the lcdx pic board and display, then all anyone has to do is soldier up the opamp board and make the connections. 100 .00 dollars for the pic built, sixty dollars for nine boards for the opamp from pcboard express. 20 dollars in parts for the opamp. batteries with connectors will be about 70.00 and a depth sensor for 60.00. cables and connectors 200.00. i figure a total price including cases of about 500.00 per side if we epoxy the displays. that makes a eccr for the price of a kiss valve with fittings and hoses.
