| hydrogom valve Hi all, I've recentely bought an hydrogom valve. I am happy with it yesterday, I was speaking on telephone with the marea diving web site boss who told me that this valve tends to remain blocked in open position , is it rigth ? regards jean mi |

| Re: hydrogom valve hi all thanks for your replies, the guy must have dreamt then... or it was only a false information lingering..... an other question about it, I've seen a lot of valves with shut valves mounted at the entry , why those valve ? to solve a free flow of o2 ? regards jean mi |

HiI also have a Hydrogomvalve (I will refer to it as an H-valve), works very well. Well except that it was leaking like hell when I got it that is... But that was fixed in no time. The O-ring sealing of the plug opposit to the bypass was faulty since a far too small O-ring was fitted. Picking a more suitable one from my spares cured that. I wonder about the choice of placing the switch off? Most configurations seem to place it upstream of the H-valve. I see the point of being able to rapidly isolate the gas upstream of potential failure points like the O-rings inside the H-valve. But if I would add one to my H-valve I would consider adding it downstream. If isolation upstream of the H-valve is needed the tankvalve can be closed. By having a valve isolating downstream of the H-valve it can be protected from moisture/floods coming from the loop with the intent to corrod/deposit salt inside. Or have I missed something?

| John Routley ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | I would think it would be very difficult to get an open fault on this valve as the spring return is very strong, much more than any solenoid. i have always used a shut off valve on cmf valves as it means if you need to shut of the o2 feed the gas stops flowing immediately, if you turn it off at the tank valve it can take some time for the pressure in the first stage, gauge and hoses to bleed into your breather, and it also means that you don't depressurise your first stage when turned off stopping any problems unseating the din o-ring. kind regards john routley Welcome Page

| Re: hydrogom valve Hi guys, Thanks for your precious replies, In fact we can say all of you don't use those shut of valve to prevent a free flowing that happends usualy, but only as a mean of stopping the kiss O2 flow easily after surfacing, and to face an unlikely and rare free flowing . Am I rigth ? Seeing all those valves, i had ended in believing that there was a free flowing hazard..... I addition this guy from marea diving (a web diving store) had told me on the phone that there were some problems. so now I am ok. last question what about the service of this valve , musdt we periodicaly have it serviced ?or service it ? is it easy do they sell service kits ? regards jean mi |
