| Re: P-port thread? Even the 36mm port, has 3 times the resistance of an EAC scrubber cartridge. How do you measure the resistance of the EAC scrubber. "Dry" or used? Does it differ alot for a fresh cartridge vs one that is almost used up? I would imagine that the extra humidity has some effect?

I would imagine that the extra humidity has some effect? We use a breathing machine to do the measurement. We have figures down to 500msw in helium and in air.The resistance increases only slightly after the EAC has been used or flooded. Unlike granules, which triple in resistance. I posted the actual measurements for the effect of a flood on granules on the diving fatalities thread. Alex |

| Re: P-port thread? Alex, if/when you get those available for sale, they look like quite the nice piece. I'd be interested in some - especially if I can get the right-angle pieces to go to hose (1-1/4" hose perhaps?) as well. That's cover the counterlung-to-cannister connections. I will also need a straight-in connector (counterlung to mouthpiece) but that's easily machined - I can handle that one. ![]() That avoids the "T-piece" issue entirely - it adds two more penetrations to the loop but might be worth it all-up. Any idea on timeline? That looks like quite the bit to use with some custom urethane-coated cordura (or neoprene) counterlungs!

| John Routley ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: P-port thread? Good evening John, Sorry, I may be dumber than usual today: any chance of posting a photo so I can understand exactly the double button arrangement you have? On the shoulder O ring, what is the difference of an O ring on the shoulder and one in the barrel? The piston type O ring in the barrel is totally controlled, whereas the shoulder O ring is a face seal so depends on engagement pressure and the loop to ambient differential pressure. Again, it is getting late, and I had a 3am flight back home today (my excuse for missing something). Could you expand a bit more on the advantage. Kind regards, Alex dont think i have any pictures alex as it was never some thing i did for others but just the odd one made for my self, and i dont have them around any more. but i'll have a look in the work shop and see if i've got one left. the soulder o-ring again was just to see if it would work and never a serious attept at making somethin all singing and dancing, i still have it there in front of me, but the material i was givent o make it with was crap and it machined like chuwing gum! john

The shoulder O ring I understand, it is the locking or double button that has intrigued me. If you have any snaps at all you would care to share it would help my enlightenment.the soulder o-ring again was just to see if it would work and never a serious attept at making somethin all singing and dancing, i still have it there in front of me, but the material i was givent o make it with was crap and it machined like chuwing gum! john Kind regards, Alex |
